>>347106Twin Peaks wrapped up the murder mystery that provided the premise for the show, and after it did it dropped in quality. It found its footing again by the end of the run, but most of the episodes after were nowhere near as good. Then there was Fire Walk with Me, which was unnecessary, and The Return, which ended up being complete trash.
I remember reading that the original plan was to keep the mystery unsolved to keep an atmosphere of unease and tension in the air while focusing on other plotlines.

Seems like he just lost the will to be a director and instead coasted on his fame til the end.

Dune is not his best film, but as much as faggots try to deny it, his Dune is much more creative, esoteric and artistic than the overrated flicks by the French-Canadian Kike.
It's no wonder that much of Dune's legacy over the decades was based on his film. I bet the new games will adopt the generic Marxist futurism of recent films.

I'm sure there are a lot of other people like me who got into Dune either from the Lynch movie or things downstream from its influence.

>>347872>Westwood's games, which took a lot of their presentation from the movieFactually wrong, my introduction to DUne was also the games and due to being a pet peeve of mine back in the day i read into it and no, they took a couple of things but the concept designers were bookworms and idealized many things from historical references, like arab fractalism.

>>347874The FMVs were clearly drawing from the look of the movie, as were the harvesters in the later games (Dune II just had big, boxy ones instead of the beetle-like harvesters from the movie; Dune II in general was less true to the source material in general). There are also the sound-based weapons like the Atreides sonic tanks, which are taken from the weirding modules from the Lynch movie. If I remember right, David Lynch thought it would look bad having the Fremen beat the Harkonnens and the Sardaukar by doing martial arts moves out in the desert. Warfare in the movie had less emphasis on the hand-to-hand combat than the books, which from what I remember featured bladed weapons and shields but with technology like lasguns too. Dune 2000 departed even further from the books by having so many units armed with standard gun weapons (Emperor even retconned "kindjals" into being mortars and not knives), which might be inspired by the movie scene of Duncan's death where a Sardaukar's bullet is shown penetrating his shield. Speaking of which, the appearance of the Sardaukar troops in Dune 2000 and Emperor: Battle for Dune is clearly based on the hazmat-style suits they wore in the Lynch movie.
One thing which wasn't based on the movie was the Ordos faction. They were inspired by Willis McNelly's Dune Encyclopedia, which was basically officially approved fanfiction.
