Funkochads we eatin' good

The Metaverse sounded cooler in Snowcrash

Does anyone actually buy Funko Pops? The whole stupid fad seems like a money laundering front.

Yes, I've seen them in offices in places I've worked. I've seen a person or two who had a dozen or more of them.

They seem to be bought primarily by soyboy cucks who's entire identity is the fandoms they're part of.

>Have childhood friend from townie days
>Hadn't seen him since we moved out from our hometown to different colleges
>Was lower income and had a more difficult family life than me
>Used to hang out with pretty hardcore people that would bully people just for the hell of it
>Would get into fights constantly
>Hobbies were skating, drawing, videogames and smoking
>Would bully fags just for fun
>Would be an edgelord all around
>As kids we used to tell dirty jokes and play some more violent recess games
>We would play the most edgy videogame shit we could as well including military shit since we had family in the military
>As teens we used to hang out since childhood friends and mix friends from our corresponding groups with some success, making our own group eventually
>Would trade internet shock shit from our phones via infrared
>He mellowed out over the years eventually as family problems and more money
>Was still an overall skaterboy outcast type
<Meetup with him after 10 years
<Moved to a major city after college
<He's an architect now
<Balding metrosexual
<Owns a Switch to play Pokemon and Fortnite
<Tells me about his Funko collection
Rest of the night was a blur
It's like everyone turned into a fag in the 2010s, it's absolutely normal that people mellow out once they reach adulthood, but people are going straight into soyboy shit.

People like to collect things, and once you start, each new addition has to fit thematically. Some people don't have the space or time for multiple categories, or they're obsessed with the variations of specific things.
The companies know this, and they offer it to you interlaced with what used to be a harmless video game.
Men need a garage and a den at the very least. Take away their time and money, and they buy shit like this. That's why there's a new fad every few years because people wake up and realize they just fucked themselves. If I had to guess when this first began, I'd say it was Beanie Babies.

Meeting an old friend just to find out they turned into a complete faggot is always depressing. Met an old friend a few years back that I'd known from jr. high to college just to find out he's married to an old cum sock I used in college with three kids that very obviously aren't his. They had married right out of college so do the math.

One thing with these that I think is overlooked is that action figures/model kits are accepted by most everyone to be for geek virgins, Funkos kind of soften the blow while still fulfilling the same purpose

For me, Funkos are for plebeian suckers for every consumer fad. They're not cute; they're ugly. They're a degradation of all the characters from these franchises, with their simplistic characteristics and soulless, big black eyes.

Why wouldn't you want to collect something aesthetic like pic related instead of spending money on that shit?

I have seen kick ass anime statues and figures before but what is the point of that shit?
It looks lame as hell, it's not even that hard to find cool looking figures online my man step up your game, it's not even a money thing either.

the fundamental rule they teach you in Econ 101 is that capitalism and the free market are fair if the buyers and sellers have equal information
the buyers and sellers never actually have equal information and products like funko pops are proof of that, because no one would buy them if they knew what other kinds of figures are available

That was just one of the first examples to come to mind. Sure, there are better anime figures, but even a mediocre anime figure is infinitely better than Funkoshit.

Fair enough, I just read the bottom part of your post.

Garbage people like Disney adults do, even cheap little figurines like the Animatez Drone figures are a thousand times better.

I don't think the type of people who buy Funko pops are sentient enough for said information to matter.

That's fine, but then it can't be called Capitalism.
