>>1746>Proko HaramYou mean Procol Harum? They aren't even comparable to VU; they're two completely different bands musically, stylistically, influentially, on every basis really.
>>1717>Only liked by faggot magicians and people who want to be coolThough it is true that "faggot musicians" and "people who want to be cool" are a sizable portion of the VU fanbase, that shouldn't dismiss the significance of VU. On their debut album, VU broke grounds implementing drone and experimental elements in their form of rock. Such elements are prevalent in much of music today such as indie rock, drone metal, 70's krautrock, ambient, noise, etc. VU's second album White Light/White Heat is very much a precursor to noise rock. Sure bands such as the Brainbombs and Buttholes Surfers have arguably improved upon the VU formula but it shouldn't be disregard that it is the VU formula laid down on White Light/White Heat they base their sound upon. It can also be argued that White Light/White Heat influenced punk rock due to its abrasive and primitive take on rock music but punk rock has more definitive influences such as the Stooges so the VU/punk rock question isn't gonna be my hill to die on.
