So it seems this board is more about sharing music and less about making music. Let's change that up a bit.

Metal Thread

What are some bands that are musically similar to Lost Horizon? I haven't been able to find anyone else like them, and it's upsetting that they only put out two albums before they disbanded. Daniel Heiman recently did an album with some Danish guys and while the vocals are there, it's not what I was expecting and I realized that it needs those high-flying drums and guitars along with (for lack of a better term) the uplifting/godlike lyrics it comes with. They're undoubtedly my favorite band and I would love to find more like them.

I worked on the set of Billie Eilish's music video Bury A Friend shot back in November 2018. I can tell you that Billie is a verified retarded person.
>She loudly farts and burps in front of everyone and although I didn't ask anyone I'm fairly certain she was wearing adult diapers
>her assistant led her around the set by holding her hand and when we said something to her the assistant would translate it to her with different words and by pointing at things
>Billie wanted a Capri Sun so I sat one in front of her and she stared at it for nearly an hour until I put the straw in it and then she sucked down the entire thing in one gulp
>I had to place 10 Animal Crackers on a paper towel for her and as soon as she finished eating them she would look at me like a puppy and I had to place exactly 10 more Animal Crackers on her paper towel
>she would stare at an IPad with a big smile on her face between shots and when I looked over her shoulder I saw she was watching Paw Patrol
>she definitely has Turrettes that makes her twitch and contort her face and speaks of herself in third person, ie. "Billie wants to sleep" or "Billie need drink"

The list goes on but I give you my 100% guarantee that Billie Eilish is an adult with special needs.

>It was after the New Year and the band had a little time off. Dee Dee got bored easily and was always trying to reinvent himself. I was his hairdresser and would dye his hair jet-black with Nice 'N Easy then cut it spiky and stick it up with "Dippety Doo." When he wore his hair un-spiked, it was flat and quite short. It was during his time off that I noticed that he shaved his whole face as usual, except for a small patch that started under his nose and went to the top of his upper lip. In a week he had a Hitler mustache, resembling the very picture of the crazy, despicable German dictator. Dee Dee also started wearing a swastika-d Nazi armband on his upper-left arm. I thought, You can't possibly walk around looking like this. Someone will kill you!
>His new style was an insult to many people and a disgrace. But he purposefully adopted the whole look and enjoyed the expressions of the shocked people he came in contact with. This time, Dee Dee had finally crossed the line: Both of his psychiatrists were Jewish and even they couldn't figure out why anyone would adopt such a distinct look. And Dee Dee spoke fluent German to boot!
Absolutely baste.

ITT good songs with awful music videos

Take a look at the 'reimagined' videos for Unknown Pleasures:
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjwhW8iqGQBtBb4DscQ5EK0aYQj_j9jqV

I have no clue whose genius is this idea from but I hope he has a slow painful death. The videos are so inconsistent i can't even describe them generally, only that the production feels straight out of a fucking perfume ad and that we all know Joy Division is when sepia/black&white filter and people dancing and doing awkward shit in close quarters, of course with neither rhythm nor cohesion with the actual song and it's themes BUT HEY WE'RE SO ALTERNATIVE AND WEIRD AND COOL DUDE JUST GIVE US THOSE VIEWS DUDE

It's so amateurish like done by your average filmbro following some copycat manual for his retarded art school project. It's probably what it is actually cause searching up the director either he hasn't grown of that shit or he's some plugged-in boomer kike with no concern over his work other than mere profit, most likely both

3TEETH

I knew he was edgy and I enjoyed his music but he's even more based than I thought. Obviously an anon, and a relatively smart one at that, firm but nuanced and rational. I hope he gets more gigs tbh.
<ONE THING I'VE THOUGHT IS REALLY INTERESTING ABOUT YOU IS THAT YOU'RE CRITICAL OF ISSUES AND ACTIONS AT BOTH ENDS OF THE POLITICAL SPECTRUM. DO YOU FIND IT PROBLEMATIC THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE TODAY WHO CLAIM TO BE INDEPENDENT THINKERS SORT OF LACK THAT KIND OF NUANCE AND THEIR VIEWS FALL INTO, LIKE, A SPORTS TEAM MENTALITY?
>Yeah. I think it's so easy to kind of just fall into, like, the "Orange Man bad" sort of rhetoric. Which, you know, clearly - I can't stand the fucking guy.
>But I think that it's almost having Trump in office for four years has allowed the left, if you could even call it the left - I don't really think there's a left in this country - but I think at that point, when you're looking at what the Democrats and certain neo-liberals are doing, they just don't even take any responsibility for their actions. They just point everything at him. At this point, I think we have way too much of a scapegoat in this country to have any sort of reasonable dialog.
>Discussing politics in this country is such a fucking mutation chamber that most people are just sort of parroting the last meme or post that they saw on social media, but there's actually very little critical thinking going on. That's half the reason I moved out to the desert - to refrain from getting into political conversation anymore. I have, like, two degrees in political science, and I used to actually enjoy talking about politics. But politics at this point have become really just such knee-jerk emotional responses and actually very little intellectual discourse.
<ON THE LAST ALBUM, YOU HAD THE PRESIDENT X CHARACTER, WHO'S LIKE A REPTILIAN KIND OF FIGURE. WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE CONSPIRACY THEORY?
>I like them all. I find conspiracy theories to be pretty hilarious. But also, I always talk about how I think there's about 10 percent of truth embedded in every conspiracy theory. I think that what happens is they like to sort of hide things in plain sight, so it's like the conspiracy theories get kind of coded in this added sort of fat to sort of prevent any of the truth from coming out.
>So I use the term "conspiracy theory" lightly, even though obviously I think there's a lot of absurdity surrounding it. But I do love the Reptilian Anunnaki stuff, especially in modern context of the sort of tinfoil hat QAnon culture. I think it's pretty funny. I read something about how 3 million people in the U.S. wholeheartedly believe that there's actually Reptilians that walk amongst us.

Changing an album's track order

I went back listened to the Beatles for the first time in years and one thing that bothered me a little was how, for a few years, they wouldn't put some of the best songs they made during an album's recording session on the album itself so they could release them as singles. Why they couldn't put them on the album and release them as singles I don't know. Either way, I feel the albums where they did this suffered as a result so I thought about where I put them on the albums and which tracks I would have them replace. After some experimenting, this is what I think is the best way do that. In the case of the White Album, I trimmed it down to a single album like George Martin wanted. Are there any tracks that add/remove/rearrange on certain albums?

Current mainstream pop music worth listening to

I'm mostly an 80s fan but there's a few modern artists I really enjoy that keep putting out good music instead of the forced garbage that most do, usually with rappers and music that couldn't catch on if the media didn't shill it 24/7. Very few artists today release hits comparable to the torrent of hits that the 80s were, but I'm sure those few will be remembered by nostalgics 40 years for now.
For me, those artists today are Dua Lipa, Ava Max and Lennon Stella.

/ost/ for the Infinity Cup 2020!

Hey there, /ost/

We're in the process of organizing a new edition of The Infinity Cup or /icup/ for short, a virtual soccer tournament pitching various boards and imageboards against each other, and we're trying to find out if you guys wanted to reserve a spot in the final tournament. For an example of what the tournament looks like, refer to http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Infinity_Cup_6
If you are interested, since your team has never played in previous iterations, we don't have either your roster, your kits or logos, so the only thing we ask of you if you want to join is the following:

1) Create a roster of 16 to 23 players, which can be named as you see fit;
2) Create a suitable logo for your board, it can be in any shape you want;
3) Create at the very least one kit for your team, which can be done by using this flat one as a template; There's no maximum on allowed kits, but the norm is to give a Home kit, an Away kit and a Goalkeeper kit at minimum;
4) Making sure your team has the correct number of medals (1 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze), which you can see from the wiki page;
5) Making a thread over at https://anon.cafe/icup/ with your team's pledge, you just need to make a new thread telling us that your board wants in on the cup.
Optionally) Assign player cards, roles and special strategies to your players, which can be referenced from the following wiki articles:
http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Player_Cards
http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Rules
http://infinitycup.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Team_Strategies
Optionally2) Change roster names and/or give us 3D models to use for your team, or new kits or whatever contribution you'd like.

I hope to see you guys on the pitch!

Anyone make music or play any instruments? What kind of equipment do you own or would you like to own? Do you just MIDI sequence or do everything in the box?

If making music your hobby, talk about it here.

Volition is a great album

You should listen to it. I know the politics of the band suck, but their music is good.

All Generations Golden Hits

I a Japanese show last night ranking the top female album sellers over the last few "eras" (showa, heisei, reiwa). The original show is here, but beware it's popup and virusware loaded:
https://video.bakotv.com/%e6%ad%8c%e3%81%ae%e3%82%b4%e3%83%bc%e3%83%ab%e3%83%87%e3%83%b3%e3%83%92%e3%83%83%e3%83%88-%e5%8b%95%e7%94%bb-2020%e5%b9%b410%e6%9c%888%e6%97%a5-201008-%e5%ad%97%e3%83%87%e6%ad%b4%e4%bb%a3/
I downloaded that with video-download-helper.
I love these shows as they give a nice overview of music over several decades, and feature notable examples, sometimes good.
In this thread I'm going to add some of the good songs it features, probably over the weekend.
This first is #92 Minami Yoko "Haikarasan Tooru"
This was the title song of a manga adaptation she starred in which is why her clothing seems odd. The story takes place during the 1920s.
This is weaponized cuteness
