Well yeah, zoomers grow up learning about the satanism seeped in modern society and associate the worst aspects with metalheads because of the attitudes and aesthetics. They don't really understand the subculture or care, its just another symptom of a degenerate society to them.

Those fags have probably only heard the biggest releases of the Norwegian scene and are only in it for the image that's been built up around it. Enslaved is a better band than Mayhem was but get nowhere near as much mainstream attention.

Also, most of what I've heard over the years from 2/3 bands of the "big three" of shoegaze has been boring. I don't understand why Souvlaki is considered such a great album. I also recently gave Going Blank Again by Ride a try, and it just sounds like generic alt rock to me.

I don't like the angsty high schooler lyrics, slick production or the constant breakdowns it's radio rock but for tumblr kids. Nu-metal wasn't any better but at least I was able to move on from wigger noise to actual metal through Fear Factory's influences, metalcore guys just seem to spread their gay angst into other metal scenes just look at neo-OSDM.
