 No.12174

Sages of /ch3/, recommend a gaming PC for under a thousand that can render AI images and videos.

 No.12175

Is this a joke? You can't even get a Nvidia GPU close to $1,000 for AI rendering.

That's what I've heard, but Newegg is selling several sub-$1000 systems for around $900, tagged as "AI-Ready". What did they mean by this? Can a GeForce RTX 4060 process AI images?

 No.12177

Never buy shit like that. They are just trying to screw you.

A 4060 non-TI is garbage even for mid-level gaming. It is pitifully incapable for AI work. If you want to do serious AI stuff, you need at least a 3090 TI. In general you should not own a GPU with less than 16 gb of vram at this point.

AMD has good GPUs at decent prices but none of their shit works with anything AI related. Nvidia owns AI right now.

What's TI?
>If you want to do serious AI stuff, you need at least a 3090 TI. In general you should not own a GPU with less than 16 gb of vram at this point.
So what price point am I realistically looking at to do this? Is it worth it to build my own, because I don't mind paying a little bit more for the convenience of pre-built, and I don't want to screw something up.
>Nvidia owns AI right now.
What about Deep Seek?

 No.12179

>>12178
You can use Deepseek or other apps on your phone…but if you want to run an AI locally on a private desktop computer, you need at least 3090 TI levels of power.
>what is TI?
TI is Nividia's "premium" grade of a certain gpu. So there is 4060 TI which is more powerful than the regular 4060, the 3090 TI which is more powerful than the regular 3090 etc. AMD does this with their "xt" and "xtx" cards.
>what price point am I realistically looking at to do this?
At least $3,000 for the GPU alone if you want to be able to run something locally. Otherwise, you are stuck with your phone and the phone apps like the rest of us. By the time you get done with the rest of the computer including the gpu you are looking at $5,000.

$6,000 goy

 No.12196

A used 3090 is $1k and will do everything locally fine, both text gen and image gen.

PCs are retard easy to assemble nowadays.

>Nowadays
They've been braindead easy for like 20 decades.
My 12 year old self was doing it

 No.12201

>>12196
I'd rather not buy a used one, I don't want to lay out that kind of money when there's more of a chance of hardware failure.

 No.12202

>>12196
>buys a crypto farmed 3090 ti for $1,000

I forgot to mention: never buy a used GPU in this age of crypto kikery. The risk of buying a farmed GPU is too high.

 No.12204

>>12196
>A used 3090
yeah don't do this
just buy an intel card if you're trying to save money

 No.12236

>>12204
>intel
lol

 No.12237

>>12236
the new intel cards are on par with nvidia cards from ~3 years ago and outperform AMD's cards, but unlike the other two intel sells their cards at a reasonable cost
the nvidia monopoly is over
