The developers that were once household names no longer consist of the original staff that made them great. It's all new crews making the games, and they just don't measure up to the veterans. Throw DEI into the mix, and you end up with what we have today. Trends in gaming consumers' habits and preferences have also drastically changed; the types of games Activision-Blizzard and Bethesda are known for making are not in high demand.

You people do realize that Microsoft is a public traded corporation and that their shareholders are fine with them 'wasting' so much money as it's a form of tax avoision planned by some of the best accounting and legal firms on the planet.
Well over 10 billion advertising the xbox brand in Japan every generation wasn't because it was a good use of money but because they were required to spend the money in that country.
