apparently it's the 4th remake of star fox 64, which I've seen people say is a remake of the original as well
why can't they just make a new game?

Well, there was the 3DS "remake" that was practically a remaster in 2011, all the other entries have been original. This new remake adds a lot of new features like online multiplayer and challenge modes. They really expanded on the cutscenes to strengthen the lore. I don't have Switch 2 yet, but this would definitely be on my list because I think it would be cool to play through Star Fox 64 again, which I haven't done in like 25 years, with modern graphics, and the multiplayer is bound to be a lot of fun.

It's too bad they won't remake Star Fox Assault with online multiplayer. That had a really cool multiplayer mode that always screamed online multiplayer to me.

they remade all the assets from scratch and probably rewrote most of the code as well
they even re-recorded all the dialogue, it's not like bioshock where just included better textures and supported higher screen resolutions, they literally remade the game

Yeah… I don't really know about this graphical style. Looks like Apokélypse or some fan trailer from the late 00s.
