Kirby hasn't been worth playing since Dream Land 3.

I always forget how popular Kirby is in Japan. Its not like he lacks the same kind of appeal other mascot characters have. The vast majority of Kirby games sell something like x2-4 better in Japan vs the US whereas other Nintendo series are usually more even or higher in the US (as its a larger market). Maybe burgers just don't jive with the pink marshmallow aesthetic while the Japanese adore it.
Splatoon is even more exaggerated where 60% of its sales are entirely Japanese worldwide. That I understand as it specifically appeals to them culturally/aesthetically, but I don't really see anything particularly Japanese about Kirby's aesthetic other than it being "cute" so maybe I'm just underestimating that.

>>16581You should consider playing Kirby and the Forgotten Land, it's the best Kirby game by a long shot. This is a follow-up to that formula.

Finally, I'm relieved they didn't cancel the Switch 1 version.

>>16583I thought that game was more of a collectathon 3d platformer like Mario Odyssey or Bananza? This game looks an open world action adventure in the vein of nu-Zelda.

>>16585It's probably less of a collectathon than those games. It's more centered on the platforming and fighting. The boss battles are epic. It was a perfectly executed transition to 3D for Kirby. The new one does appear more open-worldly, whereas Forgotten Land had levels structured like the 2D games, just with 3D movement. You need to play it, it's quite the experience.
