Remember when you could get AAA games that had been out for five years for $20 new? Remember when consoles which were halfway through their life cycles would be discounted below $200? Consumers have never been more raped.

Post-COVID inflation has destroyed everything. It's not just cuckeogooms.

But yes, paying 500 for a play station is dumb. Find a good deal on a gpu and build your pc accordingly.

Don't be a jew apologist. Even when you adjust for inflation, consumers are clearly getting raked over the coals.

Good luck building a gaming computer that will play PlayStation spec games at a significant savings.

 No.4357

>>4356
You won't, obviously. It's a matter of getting bang for your buck. Consoles are already 3-4 years into this generation. Their gpu equivalent is a rtx 3060. Dropping $500 on that is a waste of money.

PC has a higher entry price but it's a much better investment
>Piracy and emulation
>Steam sales/cheap bundles
>Freeware and old games
>Mods which can extend a game by tens or hundreds of hours (or are even whole new games themselves like Enderal)
>No paid online

Consoles are only cheaper if you just want a box to play COD/FIFA on, anything more than that a PC will pay for itself

A lot of warez is malware, and everything you do on Winglows is sent back home.
>Emulation
I've never had much luck with emulating anything beyond PS1, it either doesn't run smoothly or has too many glitches. But the caveat is I haven't tried for quite a few years, so I'm not up to date with what's available now. Has emulation improved? What kind of investment do I have to make to be able to emulate PS2 and newer consoles?

LMAO just don't be a retard. If Carlos and Piotr in literal slums can figure it out I'm sure you can

>I've never had much luck with emulating anything beyond PS1, it either doesn't run smoothly or has too many glitches. But the caveat is I haven't tried for quite a few years, so I'm not up to date with what's available now. Has emulation improved?

It varies from console to console and from game to game. Nintendo emulation is solid even for games that have just come out. Playstation emulation is okay but mileage may vary depending on the game. Xbox emulation is fucked, only very limited number of games are playable and you need a good PC to run them

 No.4366

>>4358
yes, this is objectively the truth, if you don't have a desktop computer with a card with at least 2 gb vram, that should be your first priority, since it contains so many paths for saving money long term, even if you are scared of piracy (which you shouldn't be) stuff like epic games store just gives out a free game a week, and it's not always indie trash, it can be stuff like fallout new vegas and other classic triple a titles
>>4359
emulation beyond playstation 2 (except for nintendo and psp) basically doesn't exist(ps3 is a rough WIP), but for playstation 2 and below, emulation has been completely mastered, and even a very low end pc by modern standard will be able to play Wii, Gamecube, PS2, upscaled to higher resolutions with fast framerates.
emulation has even gotten to the point where $50 chinese handheld consoles can run retroarch and play most 5th gen games at full speed
>>4359
>everything you do on Winglows is sent back home
I personally choose to use windows for gaming for convenience's sake, but I use linux for everything else (I am using linux right now) and with the advent of the steam deck and proton, now there's even more support if you really do want to make the switch

>emulation beyond playstation 2 (except for nintendo and psp) basically doesn't exist(ps3 is a rough WIP)

That's fortunately inaccurate now. If you have a decent enough PC for gaming PS3 and 360 emulation is actually playable for most games currently. Xenia and RPCS3 have most of the exclusives you would care about in a playable state. And if you are willing to pay gamepass ultimate lets you stream 360 and OG xbox games as well. This 360/ps3 generation is also really the last gen to have true console exclusive. Almost every major game is getting ported to pc from ps4 on (except bloodborne lol), so with that you have absolutely 0 need to invest in the consoles except for pure aesthetic/convenience factor.

One of the major benefits people always claim consoles have is ease of use but I find with my later systems like my ps4 and series x they have way more of the hassles of PC gaming then I would like. Which at that point may as well invest into a PC and get all the benefits there.

>>4366
>advent of steam deck

I honestly would personally recommend a steam deck as someone's first gaming PC right now. The convenience factors Deck OS brings like auto refresh rate adjustment, FSR scaling etc just make everything so easy, and almost all games up to modern AAA shit run passable. For the price point you aren't gonna get a better deal then the base steam deck rn. The oled one looks cool too but by the time you reach over 500 you are better off saving up for a real PC tbh

I think I'm finna do it bois. After 14 odd years on the same ancient rig (the gfx card still says ATI) it's finally time to upgrade this cyber mooooonday. I'm probably gonna drop something like $1300 on a nice 1440p rig to play arma 3 and shit, I might even get a used HOTAS stick and start farting around in flight games. Maybe I finally wont suck ass at koth, heh

What gaymus are you boys looking forward to playing with your new rigs?

I read that the whole Puyo vs. Tetris mode is unbalanced, but I'm getting it because you can just play Puyo vs. Puyo, or Tetris vs. Tetris. I played Tetris 99 online and it was a dumpster fire, because no matter how well you play, you get attacked at random by 98 other people. But it left me craving more online Tetris.
