Far Cry 2. I've probably beaten it ten times now, not even joking. African failed state poverty misery and warcrimes simulator just stimulates me in a way most games just don't. Never been anything else like it for good or for ill.

>>6180>Are these actually worth playing through? I've seen bits and pieces and they look alright but 3 was infamousThey are GOAT tier games, worth your time for sure. 3 is a good game with lots of memorable moments, it's just the last couple hours that are mediocre (and even then I would say it's not THAT bad). Also besides the ending a companion in the game was locked behind day one DLC which rightfully pissed people off, he is the best companion in the game and integral to the story. But playing now, you wouldn't even know.

Waiting for the British faction revamp in Eastern Front right now.

>Need to give it a try. It's got tons of replay value. You can get it on Steam for cheap. I actually went and bought it on CD just to have a backup copy. It might be lacking aesthetically compared to the games Westwood, Blizzard, and Ensemble were putting out, but as someone who grew up with those games I've actually come to prefer Kohan's style of gameplay. It took a while to grow on me though. There's way less micromanagement and much more of a focus on overall strategy.
One thing I will say is that increasing the game speed to 400% is a must for me.

>>6311>Kohan 2 was created by one of the designers of CoH1, Brian Wood.Neat. I wasn't aware of that. If anything, I would have guessed some of the Relic guys would have worked on Z. That took the Dawn of War/Company of Heroes style of gameplay even further than those games did but came out 8 years prior to Dawn of War.
>How does it play?I haven't played it, but from what I can tell it's adulterated compared to the original. In the original you have cities, and other than building forts and resource structures there's nothing like traditional RTS base building. You just choose add-ons to build to your cities, so it's a similar concept but you don't have to bother with placing anything and everything's self-contained. Judging from screenshots and having played TimeGate's Axis & Allies, which from what I've read is basically a WWII version of Kohan 2, that's not the case with the second game.
Axis & Allies is a decent game, so I imagine Kohan 2 would be one too. I just can't imagine the changes were for the better when it takes away from the streamlined nature the first game had that helped make it so good.
>Also, Brian Wood was killed by 2 pothead Canadian femoids while he was driving with his wife and unborn child. That sucks. Did they get anything more than a slap on the wrist?
No.6315
>>6313Axis and Allied was also by Brian Wood by the way.

No.6742
>>6313>>6311Kohan 1 is about a civil war in a global Zoroastrian Elf Empire. Instead of races, you play factions like the Nationalists (genocidal). It tries to do a Grand Strategy sort of thing, with a limited amount of cities on a global map that you have to upgrade for specific resource production and armies that you have to compose of a certain amount of units.
Kohan 2 retains some elements of 1, like forcing you to work on army composition (sort of) and a single base with upgrades. But it's also much more "warcraft-like". The factions are your typical fantasy races (humans, wood elves, undead etc.), the map is a generic fantasy landscape, you have hero units…
I mean, it's not bad. I only played a few skirmishes to check out the factions, and if nothing else it was very high effort.
It's just that Kohan 1 stands out and this one doesn't.

SSBU, never gets old to me. The online is fun. The only thing they need to improve is opening the floodgates to online matchmaking, but Nintendo probably doesn't want to break their streak of 0 child abductions through their service, so it is what it is.

>>6756You should have played Super Metroid first, while Super is still really unique Zero Mission and AMR2 add a ton of QoL improvements.
No.6782
>>6777>improvementsExcept that's wrong. Zero Mission, while a step forward from the complete insult that was Fusion, still has a significant reduction in control compared to Super and also has that stupid ledge grab gimmick that makes platforming a joke. While Zero Mission has an excuse for
some of the reductions in being designed for less buttons than an SNES controller had, AMR2 just copies Zero Mission's garbage without any justification.
