>>9572Picked up Doom + Doom II on Switch for $3.99 during the Halloween sale. It includes Final Doom and a few other episodes, mods, and a new metal soundtrack you can toggle. I finally beat Doom on Halloween. I've also got Doom 3, Doom 64 which I beat, the Doom remake and Eternal for Switch in my backlog.

No.9596
>>9595Okay. I know the control is more precise with a mouse & keyboard, but it doesn't really hinder you unless you're up against online autists, which I don't really care about the online because it's admittedly gay on Switch without voice chat.

>>9610>nudoom is better than the originalI like Doom 2016 a lot, Eternals fun as well, still can't beat OG DOOM for me. Honestly like the lore of Doom being an eternal aryan champion fighting against the demons
jews forevermore.
No.9614
>>9610>You can't just mindlessly chew through the game with SSG, you have to employ different tactics for each enemy and use your whole arsenal.Honestly, this is how the first Doom is on the harder difficulties, to an extent. You've got to ration your ammo. Toward the end I was picking most bull demons off with the chainsaw, for example. I rarely used the plasma gun or BFG, saving them for the final boss.

Eternal is a fun game, its a good game, its still not the original.

>>9688>Nobody cares about story in a Doom game…That's one reason the proper Doom games leave NuDoom in the dust. NuDoom caters to lorefag mutts instead of people looking for no-frills action and a cool setting.
>NuDoom simply delivers more on the gameplay front and exposed many Doom "fans" as casuals who want their Farmville tier game where you click five buttons. When the game demands more of the player than strafe and click they start raging even though they asked for hardcore FPS for years…There's more to Doom than strafing and clicking. There's also managing your ammo and the whole exploration aspect of the game.
Simplicity isn't an inherently bad thing anyway. That's why '80s arcade games can still be fun. There's something elegant about having something simple that excels at what it sets out to do and is aesthetically pleasing than some maximalist abomination for tasteless mongrel bottom feeders who think bigger is always better.
>>9692If you think a 30-year-old game is worse, you probably don't know anything about video games. FPS games peaked decades ago. Outside of a few brown goblins with bad taste, do you think anyone's going to care about any of the NuDoom bowel movements 30 years after they're released like they do the real Doom games?

>>9718>2016/Eternal/Ancient Gods put together have an hour of cutscenes between themAnd that's still far too much. Why cater to smooth-brained teenagers and Reddit soy connoisseurs who need everything spelled out for them? All the grandiose faggotry about the heckin' Doomslayer was clearly created by clueless people who don't understand what was good about the Doom setting in the first place.
>Okay then go enjoy your cookie clicker mobile game and stop seething every time 2016/Eternal are mentionedThat generic screenshot you posted definitely looks way more like Chink-tier mobile slop than real Doom does.

>>9702>do you think anyone's going to care about any of the NuDoom bowel movements 30 years after they're released like they do the real Doom games?Consider who is releasing these new games then how much of current human culture is already fake. The only reason why they'll care about some game they've never heard of or care about is because their paychecks depend on them pretending to care during a 30 year anniversary event. As far as the people behind this are concerned it's much better to have fan communities they control completely than real ones.

Playing through Doom II for the first time (better late than never, right?) and I noticed on Mission 31: Wolfenstein in which you get transported to the castle, the swastikas on the walls were changed to symbols that look like steering wheels and the portraits of Adolph Hitler removed his moustache. Were these alterations present in the original NA release in 1994? Could someone versed in the Doom lore answer me this?
