Are normalniggers just figuring that out? I just figured it not having a disc drive built in was the giveaway.

Imagine still having consoles, people should have dropped this kind of crap back with ps3

I haven't bought a console since PS3, I still have it and use it and my Wii, but I was gifted a Switch OLED and I really like it. The limitations don't bother me, because I'm used to PS3-level graphics, and it has a lot of just fun games.

If you don't buy some consoles you can kiss goodbye to physical media, or whats left to it.

 No.9665

I buy physical media. By that I mean I buy books and I burn my own DVDs.
The only games that are generally worth buying are games that you play online with other people.

Understandable. Based as fuck for burning your own games.

Physical media fucking sucks, pirate and archive everything instead of holding a single copy that will be outdated in a few years you stupid nigger.

Physical doesn't make any sense when you release no fucking games to even put in stores, the video game industry is now mobile and live service with a handful of actual games each year

 No.9690

>>9689
Well yeah besides soytendo you are mostly right, gaming is dead in that sense.

One game was coming out I wanted to buy to support the devs but I didn't and I sorts regret that, not a vidya game dev bootlicker I just really wanted the poster that came with the game cause it reminded me of the promotional material from back in the day.

Nintendo make barely anything either, they just stack their release schedule with ports, remakes and shovelware that nobody would even look at if it didn't have the Nintendo logo on it

 No.9695

>>9694
First-party game releases always slow down toward the end of a console's life-cycle. Although, Mario & Luigi: Brothership was just released, which is not a port or remaster, but a brand new game.

As I said most of it is shovelware with a Nintendo bump, Brothership would fall under that umbrella. Other than Metroid Dread I'm struggling to think of one must play game on the Switch. Maybe Three Houses?

>Other than Metroid Dread I'm struggling to think of one must play game on the Switch
For the entire run? That's ridiculous. There are plenty.

 No.9698

>>9697
As someone who has emulated the switch a few times, and a former Nintendo fan, there's nothing all that great about the switch library
<3d/2d mario (always solid titles, but if you've played one of each you've played them all, more or less)
<sequels to ports of zelda games
<some of the definitively worst pokemon games
<a dozen soulless sequels to JRPGs
>fucking Labo
<Arms
<1-2 Switch
<overpriced ports and a sequel for a nearly dead, super outdated adventure game series from the 80s (Detective Club)
<Roms with severe restrictions bundled as speedrunning challenges for $40
Maybe the 3D kirby is good, I've heard good things about that one, and it's a fresh enough idea. New Metroid I've heard mixed things about but it's probably alright.

 No.9699

>>9698
Ports and remasters are still good for people who've never played the game before.
>sequels
Now you're moving the goalpost, if we have to discount all sequels, no matter how good they are, do you hold other platforms to this standard?
>Maybe the 3D kirby is good
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is the best Kirby game, hands down. It's up there with Super Mario Odyssey, I can't decide which is better.

 No.9700

>>9698
Bowser's Fury should have been a DLC for Soydessey and not the fucking tech demo that was 3DWorld.
>You played one you've played them all
Same with WarioWare now that Nintendo gives a shit about that franchise more than Wario Land. ARMS replaced Punch Out and F-Zero became the new battle royale while not bothering to remake the GCN one.

>>9699
My main problem is that they're remaking shit that was fine on the first place but won't lay a finger on games that do need a rework, besides the Mario RPG games should've been part of their nostalgia pack emulator shit program.

Metroid Dread, FE: Three Houses, Luigi's Mansion 3, Pikmin 4, Bayo 3, that's about it for notable games, the rest is party games and shit nobody cares about. Really weak for how long the system has been out.

>inb4 Mario Midyssey

Mediocre especially for a flagship game

>inb4 BOTW/TOTK

Unity asset flip tier "games", absolute shit

It's worth mentioning they're now banning Ai stuff in case any lazy hipster tries to shit out their new retro-slop, however in Super Mario 3d AllStars they did use Ai to enhance textures for Super Mario 64 in fact some dataminers have discovered they're located within a folder named "lazy loading".

 No.9712

>>9701
I don't know what you're smoking. Odyssey was a masterpiece. You must not like Mario games.

It's okay if you don't want to count BOTW, but it was ported because nobody bought a Wii U, and it would've been a sin not to allow the Switch userbase to have access to it. I haven't played TOTK yet, but by all accounts it was better than BOTW. Skyward Sword got a remaster, for much the same reason as BOTW, it was released late toward the end of the Wii's life-cycle, so a lot of people missed out on it. Like I said, Kirby is a must-play, Smash is also great, Splatoon 3 is very popular, the 2 Wariowares are a lot of fun, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the best AC to date, SMB Wonder also comes to mind.

I was the anon who dropped with ps2, let me explain more about it.
When I turned 18 I lost a lot of my interest in vidya and with PS3 and that shitty xbox, it became harder to get cheap games, and I preferred to use my money on other things. I started playing only autistic stuff on pc like Medieval Total War 2 and some RTS. Other than that, I was just playing TTRPG and spending my time creating and running a forum on the subject.
When I wanted to play something on PC, I pirated it or bought it in rare cases, and simply burned the games so that I and my friends could have them.

PS3 had some interesting exclusives, but I didn't see myself buying one. When I really wanted to play something like Bloodborne I used to visit friends and play it in their place.
The last physical game I brought was South Park the Stick of Truth. Steam is getting more and more fuck up with time and the price of vidya keeps getting more out of touch and I honestly don't have much time neither mood to play the majority of games. For the last two years I'm almost only playing Darkest Dungeon for example. I prefer to spend my time modding one game and playing it over and over again instead of jumping to a new game ever single week like normalfags do.

The thing about those zelda sequels is that they all use the same engines as previous zelda switch ports/remakes. (the most recent one uses the Link's Awakening engine.) I don't completely blame them for that, since they've done it several times before in the series, but it furthers the feeling of sameyness.
There hasn't been a new zelda made explicitly for switch that actually pushes the series' visuals in a new direction like they did with every previous nintendo console.
(LTTP, Ocarina, Windwaker/TP, Skyward Sword, BOTW)
All of those were nintendo showcasing what their talented devs were capable of visually. They did do this with the Link's Awakening remake, but they wasted it on a remake rather than a new game, diluting the effect.

>They did do this with the Link's Awakening remake, but they wasted it on a remake rather than a new game, diluting the effect.
They used the Link's Awakening engine for Echoes of Wisdom, a brand new game. You could say they were testing the waters with the LA remake, but the plan was always to use this engine on a new game.

I am a bit younger than (you) probably anon,Bloodborne was the last game I seriously played on soyny. That being said I enjoyed ps2 the most out of the 2000s playstation consoles. I still have a lot of fond memories playing on it. The PS3 I enjoyed some autistic JRPGs and Demon's souls.

it couldn't have been, since from what we know about nintendo dev cycle it would've first been worked on about 8 years before echoes' release, there would be about a 2 year gap between the release of awakening and them even starting on echoes of wisdom

Looking back, Change The Channel was a blessing that ensured TGWTG remained a soulful time capsule and never got the chance to be bastardized into generic corporate podcast slop like Rooster Teeth

I am unsure if doug would have turned out that way, I am pretty sure Linkara actually did make sone slop podcast with all the other traitors so it went in that direction anyways sadly.
