Everything seems so fake and repetitive, half of social media seems dead and lifeless, advertising is 80% of what the internet is filled with.

social media, the internet is all just a sanitized corporate landscape,Social media "influencers" and content creators have ruined the internet. Youtube was ruined when people started quitting their jobs to make watered down ad friendly content.

>now in this thread i want anons to give your honest opinion about the internet and social media.

Vtubers and the novelty of AI are the only things the internet has left. Once those go, it's officially over. Imageboards barely cling on out of spite.

I gave my opinions years ago. You need to actually make and do shit, to be an engaging web community. You can't just be a crab bucket of catty assholes, and expect that to perpetuate itself indefinitely.
I tried my best to breath some kind of creative energy into this site, and you all acted like it was gay and retarded, so I mostly took myself elsewhere, and started interacting with people I actually like.

Aside from Youtube I never used any social media so I don't know much about that but I can see its influence on all types of content. It all sucks. Everything is policed and commodified, nobody does anything for fun and even if they get lucky and make something funny, they and everyone else go after it for clout and try to profit off of it. Nobody simply does it 'for teh lulz'. Though it seems that most people are waking up to this which is why there is constant talk about the internet being shit now. I realized it years ago, so I cut my internet usage a lot and pushed myself to do more stuff in the real world like learning a language, to play sports, travel, meet real people etc. Been more fruitful, though I got kinda tired of that too. Now I try to hold a balance between my online/offline life.

8chan wasn't petfect but there was a decent amount of creativity and cross-board communication. I enjoyed any streaming party like /bane/ & /just/ streams, /wooo/'s wrestlemania streams, /sp/'s superb owl streams etc. I did my best to contribute to some of those as well so it felt good to participate. The sense of community was really nice. I think from 2017 or 2018 onward things got bad. In the post 8chan world, things seem more divided and barren, nothing like that happens anymore or at least on that scale. I wonder how many users like i did just decided to quit and move on, never to come back, and how few new users joined, if any. Personally, being a young NEET or student on vaccation were the best times and I was more motivated to do things. As time past, I stopped caring. New blood really is essential for a community to thrive.

Which Social Media site has proved to be the ultimate sterilization example? I'd say Tumblr, place where autists and lefties shared their degeneracy until they realize neonazis also joined the place dumping /pol/ shitposting, apparently that's worse than luring children into fetishes that could potentially sterilize them. However the real reason why porn autists got shoah'd was because of the hashtag "t33n" in which it was considered child porn, quite hilarious how lefties overexaggerated the news because their emotional manipulation tactics were futile. If a medical waste facility was a site, it would be Tumblr.

Social media is crap, but it's been moving in that direction since Facebook caught on. Even outside of all the corporate and governmental sanitization and crackdowns on dissenting opinions, all the Third World shitholers and bot activity aren't exactly making things any better. But as shitty as the Internet has been getting over the years, it's still useful for tutorials and downloading things like books, music, movies, and games. I couldn't ever see myself giving up regular usage unless we get to the point where you'd need an ID to use it. Despite that, I don't think I would be using it to interact with other people at all if imageboards died.

That's the problem. The people who would have been interested in imageboards in years past are now usually cookie-cutter Dicksword users, and cancerous Shartyfags tend to be among the better users you could attract. Finding a way to bring the right kinds of people to imageboards is a pretty big conundrum.

Not him but ever since ED was used to attack freenode some wealthy South Korean prince who wanted to be a big shot in the tech world got involved and it was never the same again. The same can be said for freenode too.

Everybody keeps talking about how the internet is dying on imageboards but they never bring up freenode which is odd. It only happened a few years ago and it shows that one of the oldest and most popular IRC networks out there can be bought out and destroyed when the community in it doesn't want the IRC protocol updated to include blockchain technology.
