Aw I missed it. DKC is timeless, good choice. If you ever need a suggestion, Blackthorne for SNES is a hidden gem IMO. It has platforming mechanics like Prince of Persia, but with a gun/cover system for combat. I assume no one would vote for it in a poll though, so maybe Kirby Superstar would be more appealing.

Super Metroid is easier than Donkey Kong Country which has notorious difficulty spikes
Donkey Kong Country was actually hard enough that when they released in in Japan they made it easier for the japs by adding in more lives and less enemies, etc.
japanese version is basically baby mode
