OP here. The only qualifier I intended for this thread is that the songs were once hits, and are cringe now from overplaying. It doesn't necessarily mean they are bad songs. I agree, at one point, Closer could be viewed as a great track, but due to overplaying, every time you hear it, it's just cringe, imho.

I thought it was just meant to be ones that aged badly. As far as overplayed songs go, that could be just about anything you hear on the radio. That's one reason I don't like listening to popular music on the radio. Classical music I'm fine with, but rock and pop stations tend to make me dislike songs that I previously liked.
