What's the best sauce to use when making a pizza? I've tried both marinara sauce and what they call "pizza sauce" but neither taste quite right.

Maybe try it homemade. I've never made pizza sauce before, but it looks simple enough.
The beauty of this, is that you can customize it to "taste right".

strained tomatoes with salt and fresh basil leaves is all you really need. just dont buy a canned or bottled already prepared sauce. they use sugar and carrots etc as filler and makes it taste way sweeter than it should.

adding things like black pepper or even some mushrooms or even veal bones will help bring in some flavour and i typically like to reduce the sauce real low to almost a tomato paste consistency. you can always add some water later if you dont like the thiccness.
