Copying this convo over from somwhere else: my pseudo-intellectual ass has been thinking a lot about religious connections between christians, jews, and the canaanites. the jews believe that when they did they sit in the grave waiting until the "real messiah" comes and creates yahweh's kingdom on earth, no? so, if they broke that covenant with their god, what now? "heaven" for jews seems to have been eden, which appears to be distinct from the general underworld of the canaanites. if it's suppose to be inferred that yahweh no longer cares about a kingdom on earth, and the only path to heaven/eden now is through jebus, and judgements placed on christians lets them pass into eden or thrown into gehenna to cleanse them of their sins (as hell is a corruption of the norse underworld and thereby plays no part in any of this), where, then, does that put jews? the whole sitting around part is null. would it be enough to assume they'd be judged/given the option to accept jebus or get thrown into gehenna until they come to their senses OR would they just get booted into the canaan afterlife because of how done yahweh is with their shit? the torah's all about how temperamental he is and how he's all about holding grudges

Retarded. It was the other way around. By the time anything regarding norse mythology had been written down, it had already been deeply influenced by Christianity. That's why there are poems to the Christian God in the Elder Edda.
Norse mythology in general is very young as far as mythologies go. Atli and Thiodreck, for example, are based on Atilla the Hun and Theodoric the Great respectively. It's interesting to study because you are able to compare and contrast the mythology with the documented history that clearly inspired it.

hades is the greek word for underworld and the first bible was written in greek script. the word 'hell' itself is simply another of this type of rephrasings. the norse underworld is called "hel" and so once again we're simply just using the word for underworld of the population they're trying to convert
