I knew that Cary Grant's accent was natural. He was born in England but had a stage career that entailed him traveling to America when he was young, so he developed a weird accent that was in between British and American speech.

The studios did try to push their stars into speaking "proper" English during the transition into sound movies though. Colleen Moore talked about having to take elocution lessons.

The Mid-Atlantic accent is an organic accent as well. That's the point of the video. But it became associated with New England elites (even though many people in that part of the country spoke that way) by the rest of the America, so Hollywood began pushing the more blue collar-friendly Mid-Western accent instead.

No it doesn't. Every country that's not a microstate picks one dialect and accent as its standard way of speaking so that everyone can understand what everyone else is saying. That doesn't destroy the various regional accents, and it doesn't mean the language they picked as their standard isn't a real, organic accent.
