It's been almost ten years or more since I saw this movie and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
But for me, the movie that affected me the most and impacted me early on was Fluke. Napoleon is kino too.

I think a lot of its 'greatness' comes from the time and place it was released, during the height of the cold war when nuclear war was a real fear among people and satirizing the whole thing added to the legacy of the film. Difficult to view it through that lens anymore which is why it may have aged poorly in that sense despite being a solid film.

Not if you've been paying attention. We have never been as close to nuclear war as we are now, due to the escalations in the Ukraine war.

If anything it deserves more recognition than it gets today. It was so accurate to how insane US nuclear planning was (and still is) that when RAND Corporation people left the theater after seeing it for the first time they turned to each other and asked "How'd they know?"

It's crazy how 90% of biopics and historicals are boring as shit and then you read non-fiction and it's the most insane stuff you ever read full of wacky characters and kino moments

Freddy got Fingered, specially if you know about Kevin Spacey crying over the nazies when he got caught raping shotas.
