what was /TV/'s opinion on the Dark Phoenix?

 No.365333

I stopped caring about this when they made First Class and it became clear that every other X-Men movie after that was going to be extremely low-effort dogshit.

 No.365335

The Last Stand was the last X-Men, for me.

You only liked Logan because it's a male power fantasy protecting a little girl like some Hikari Genji Trope.

It was trash. The plot was stupid and every character was ridiculously overacting, especially that weenie James McAvoy.

…but what about Logan?

Does that even count as an X-Men movie?

I liked this dumb movie and the one that came before it - I'm not saying I'd watch it again, or that I even remember anything from it. I'm not really sure why, but I found these later X-Men movies to be laid back and enjoyable. MCU shit in comparison just makes me angry and puts a scowl on my face, with the fucking horrible humor (WTF?), US government and military aesthetics (the MCU is ZOG propaganda), the bland washed-out picture, shitty CGI, and the unrelatable and unlikeable characters (especially horrible Tony Stark). I didn't see any feminism or black shit in these X-Men movies.

I think the first X-Men film by that chomo Bryan Singer (currently hiding out in Israel) is probably the best superhero film ever made, centered around a very satisfying Wolverine story arc, where he is protectful of a teenage girl that can't touch anyone or they die. How sweet and heartwarming is that? Ignoring Last Stand, which was crazy bad, this movie series shows how cool it is to have a fairly well-executed long-running superhero movie series. I always wished the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies got the million sequel treatment and we saw more villains, and had more of Peter Parker running around on no sleep dealing with things - basically making the same film over and over again, Godzilla style. Some of those fake Spider-Man 4 trailers on YouTube back in the day were really good, almost Titanic 2 Jack is Back-tier good, but I've never been able to find them again.

But to those shitting on this movie - what the fuck other capeshit would you rather watch? To my mind, the list of enjoyable superhero movies is extremely short.

Isn't X-Men Marvel?

I literally haven't seen X-Men Origins Wolverine since the year it came out (2009), but I thought the idea of Wolverine being 200 years old or some shit was honestly pretty cool. There were a few cool things about that movie. On the costumes: the MCU went pretty dark and muted with the costumes as well, and really, none of the heroes ever received a truly comic-accurate suit. I always wanted to see Captain America with his signature boots for instance. I always thought he had one of the most powerful-looking silhouettes for a hero, and the movie version was a auraless boring square that projected zero strength. Maybe comic-accurate stuff would just look stupid, but in any case, the Underworld-style 2000s black suits in the X-Men movie were pretty cool - or at least movie magic made them look so.

Yeah, Anna Paquin… I liked the part when she ran away from X-Man Hogwarts and got on that train. Nerds complain that she's actually supposed to be Jubilee and not an accurate representation of the Rogue character, but I think the film was improved by the role swap. Jubilee was a really fun and cute character in the 90s cartoon show though.

Not back then. X-Men were owned by 21st Century Fox, as was Spider-Man and Fantastic Four, so they couldn't be incorporated into Yidsney's MCU thing. Yidsney bought 21st Century Fox in 2017 for $71 billion and owns them now, along with a million other things.

Nothing. Capeshit is a stupid genre for children. Big boys don't watch it.
