People actally from Asia never cared for it in fact they hated it. It flopped in China and Singapore because it's heavily catered to the west and the fact that they cast biracial and non ethnically pure chinese people among several other things.

Americans liked it for the same reason they liked black panther or any other flick filled with non-whites.
