I think the Riddick trilogy takes the cake

 No.369342

Is Riddick actually science fiction? I guess Pitch Black had some mild astronomy, but other than that I don't recall much science or speculation in the films.

 No.369343

>>369342
Human colonization of alien planets and long term/distance space travel is still fiction that would require scientific advancement from current capabilities

You are a forever midwit if you think LOGH is the product of deep political thought.

 No.369411

>>369410
Nothing before and nothing since in animation has matched the depth of LOGH.

 No.369416

>>369411
You're confusing length for depth. LGH is not even as deep as Gall Force.

In fact there's a fair number of '80s and '90s OVAs more intelligent than than LGH that didn't feel the need to stretch out a shallow story over a thousand episodes.

Is cowboy bebop really the best post earth cuckime?

No, level up.

Outlaw star is indeed kino

 No.369487

I think it depends on what is meant by post-earth. I'll be interpreting it as "it is possible and for a human to be born off-Earth and live their entire life without going to Earth." Notably, since it's post-Earth, it must a setting where Earth is confirmed to exist, as opposed to Star Wars, VOTOMS, Kaiba, etc.
Only stuff I've seen and like:
<TV
Star Trek TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT
<Anime
Captain Harlock (and the rest of Leijiverse by extension)
Gundam main universe (probably most spin-offs too)
LOGH
G Fighter Gundam (it's almost all set on Earth, but most of Humanity lives in space)
Cowboy Bebop
Gankutsuo (I've only seen the first episode but it looks kino)
>>369411
Oshii works are deeper and better animated; his stuff had massive influence on Groundhog Day, The Matrix, Inception, etc. I still like LOGH though.

Yes. Earth had to have existed but it's been stripped raw or overpopulated to the point space colonization was necessary

Was Terra Formars any good? I read some of the manga but never finished it. Does it qualify as post earth?

 No.369537

>>369505
TerraFormars has an awesome concept with a terrible execution.
And no, Earth still exists and is the center of humanity.

In post earth, earth could still exist as a home planet but a need go it space expansion would be necessary for reason or another.

>That's not Dunc
Dunc is pozzed and soulless.
>Only 2 good things came out of that movie
It also has great production design for the different cultures and a really good soundtrack. Plus it led to the games.
>the boxy shield effects
That's one of the worst parts of the visual effects.
