 No.372396

The Pacific shits all over Band of Brothers, probably one of the few good things created in the year of 2010.
Feel free to prove me wrong though.
Is Masters of the Air any good?

The Pacific theater gets overlooked.

 No.372398

Not really, what's really overlooked is Korea and I'd like to see more media about it.

 No.372399

It's all the same war propaganda slop.

>Not really
I always think of media as focusing on the European theater, and usually not the Eastern Front either.
>what's really overlooked is Korea and I'd like to see more media about it.
Definitely. Korea deserves its reputation as the forgotten war. It's sandwiched between WWII and Vietnam, so nobody really remembers it. I was thinking about that yesterday. I was at a family gathering, and my great uncle was showing a picture of the bullet that hit him in the head in Korea and his Purple Heart and how his face looked after they reconstructed it.

I like the Nips, but they were deservedly put in their place.

Shame

 No.372416

If it's about WW2 and it's made by Americans there is a 99.9% probability that it is indeed war propaganda slop. WW2 is America's sacred cow, it's the "good war" they use to remind themselves constantly that they were the goodies that one time, disregarding the constant warfare the US has been waging on the entire world since its end.

>>372400
The war on Korea was exceptionally fucking evil and it was waged almost immediately after WW2. The reason they never talk about it is because it would probably taint their little sacred cow by proximity (the civilian bombing campaign in Korea was similar to what was done to Japan).

 No.372417

Is there even a single WW2 war film that mentions FDR moving the fleet away from the west coast to Hawaii because he knew if he did it Japan would attack and he wanted a pretext for war? An admiral even resigned over the order.

 No.372419

>>372416
>America were the good guys in WW2
Nope, if we would've sat it out and let the Axis Powers win, Europe wouldn't be in the absolute state that it's in today.

 No.372421

>>372419
You're right, it'd probably be better off. Considering the minor role the US played in defeating the Nazis (in spite of endless Hollywood propaganda, it was actually the Soviets who liberated Europe), and the fact that half the problems in Europe today stem from America turning Europe into a vassal to confront Russia. It would definitely be better off.

 No.372422

>>372421
I wouldn't say the US played a minor role, there's a reason why the US and not Russia still occupies Europe.

>>372422
And that reason is the fact that US plane manufacturers were nearly all facing insolvency at the end of WWII because they were unable to transition from building military planes to civilian planes and still remain profitable. So they lobbied the US government hard and it fabricated a set of pretexts to justify endless spending on new aerospace toys. The product of that was NATO, an enormous market to sell their military hardware, and the cold war, a neverending conflict against a phantom. Much like the Athenian Empire millenia earlier, it started as a pretext to "protect" allies with a common military defense (though the Soviets were far less aggressive than Achaemenid Persia), but was in fact an empire presiding over subordinate vassal states.

 No.372427

>>372426
All true, but the alternative, to not have a NATO, and to leave Europe defenseless and ripe for the taking of the USSR and communism, was not an option. The plan worked, up until now. But as American forces have been drawing down since the end of the Cold War, and Russia's have been building back up, that brings us to the predicament we have today, with Europe playing catch-up, amidst all their domestic problems.

>The Soviets liberated Europe
lol
Regardless, The Pacific, while propaganda, isn't the same ZOGslop you're used to, it's anti war, it showcases all the brutality of war with none of the heroism.
I'd say something like Letters From Iwo Jima is way worse just from the cartoonish way the Japanese in that movie behave.
>WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVEN'T KILLED YOURSELF YET?
>COME HERE!
About as retarded as Enemy at The Gates.

The Pacific showcases just how hellish the front was from multiple USMC viewpoint based on the more complete letters and writings they got.

>>372417
About as likely as any Hollywood movie mentioning the USS Liberty.

Why did you stop going to the theater?

 No.372500

>>372499
I already had next to no interest in modern movies by that point. I only went that time because my dad wanted someone to go to the theater with him. Before that we also saw that Stephen Spielberg Lincoln movie, which I thought was crap other than the Daniel Day-Lewis performance.

I sometimes go with my dad to the movies as well just to spend some time with him, and getting him off the fucking Talmudbox for 2-3 hours (and watch a different kind of retarded propaganda instead).

We watched Midway when it came out, he really wanted to watch that one since we watched Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima back to back when they came out and it was pretty great.
God it sucked so much, makes Pearl Harbor look like an unsung masterpiece in comparison.

Completely disjointed with absolutely no pacing and maybe 2 good war scenes, mostly terrible CGI.
Still somehow better for him than being brainrotted by 24/7 Talmudvision news feed.
>Lincoln
I watched that one alone when traveling to my parents and they were shopping on a mall.
What a pile of dogshit, goddamn.

Original midway wasn't so bad but the whole interracial relationship push was very gay and cucked.

Where's a war movie about gay romance between enemy soldiers? Does any director have the balls to make this?

>interracial relationship
I'll cross the original Midway off my list then. I've noticed that it seemed to be pretty socially accepted to push interracial relationships between whites and Asians relatively early on. It's like it was being used by miscegenation pushers to get their foot in the door to try and normalize other forms of race mixing.
