I don't think Westerns were ever as pure and non-pozzed as they're made out to be. Everyone acts like John Ford was so heckin' problematic for his portrayals of Amerindians, but he went too easy on the injuns if anything and also pushed a bit of implicit "proposition nation" propaganda in Drums Along the Mohawk back in fucking 1939. I think the poz ramped up during the cultural upheavals of the '60s and '70s, but I think it was already kind of latent in the genre.

But to be honest, I'm not as familiar with the genre as I should be to make a judgement like this.

The Japanese original was the better movie, but be warned, it is just as slow.

Most films are subversive in nature, better to find a list of non-subversive films.

When watching films its important to seperate the subversion from the rest of the content that you can appreciate. Or watch non-subversive films like old Japanese films/historical films made in 60s Russia.

Pretty sure most say the dollars trilogy is the best. Or high noon/The searchers for a more classic western. Though John Wayne hated High Noon
