>>152200I don't think SCOTUS would allow that to stand if Dup really pushed the issue and wanted to go after Joe and Hunter. Dup has a lot of shit on his plate with the Ukraine escalation, sanctuary cities and states bucking, etc., but I wouldn't blame him if he used his position to take revenge on these fuckers who put him and his family through hell for the past 9 years.

Also kept his son out of the wreckage.

I don't think you can pardon someone for crimes they'll commit in the future. Nor do I think you can set a range for crimes committed. I'm pretty sure it only works if you're currently being charged, or were charged.
No.152220
Is anyone actually surprised? Of course pedojoe wasn't going to let his crackhead pedophile son go to prison. He was just waiting until after the election because pardoning a pedophile crackhead would look bad to voters.
No.152223
>>152220>He was just waiting until after the election because pardoning a pedophile crackhead would look bad to voters.Exactly.
Also, it's funny that this pardon goes all the way back to January 1, 2014, they had to basically ask Hunter how far back he got the laptop, with all the incriminating evidence on it.

No.152258
>>152250The presidential pardon was originally intended to right wrongs, and free people who, upon probing their cases, were found to be unjustly convicted. It was never intended to let scumbags like Hunter Biden elude justice.
No.152267
>>152258>The presidential pardon was originally intended to right wrongsNo it wasn't. And it's a complex legal procedure.
<A pardon is a deed, to the validity of which delivery is essential, and delivery is not complete without acceptance. It may then be rejected by the person to whom it is tendered; and if it is rejected, we have discovered no power in this court to force it upon him.A pardon is worthless if the pardoned person doesn't accept it. People of sound mind have refused pardons to be murdered by the state. People that pleaded the fifth were offered pardons to testify and refused.
No.152268
>>152267I think you're missing the point. The pardon is not meant to get the President's cronies and family members out of trouble. It is a last resort when the legal system fails to act justly. What does people refusing to accept pardons have to do with that? That's a non-sequitur.
No.152269
>>152268>It is a last resort when the legal system fails to act justly. Then explain why Nixon was pardoned before being charged with anything. Or Clinton pardoning his coke addict half brother. The way the pardon is being used in this case is exactly what it was intended for and how it was used in American legal history while the modern interpretation you're espousing is a fiction.
The reason why a pardon can be refused is important is because it is a gift/deed from the executive branch. Certainly unjust convictions or compassion for criminals that were forced to commit crimes are good reasons to use pardon powers but humanitarian reasons are not why this legal tradition was created and keeps living on. It wouldn't have survived into the modern era if that were the case.
No.152270
>>152269When the pardon was enumerated, this power was meant to be wielded by honorable men who are actually fit for public office, not corrupt grifters like Bidup.
>Nixon, ClintonIt has been abused for a long time, by both parties, and I don't know when the precedent was set to use it to get bad guys out of prison, but I don't agree that was the original purpose. It's yet another way we've strayed from the Constitution.
No.152271
>>152270>but I don't agree that was the original purposeThen look into the history of how legal pardons were used. The people who wrote that US constitution were almost all ex-British officers or lawyers and to them during that time in history pardons and amnesty were something you tried tempting pirates or mercenary armies with to attack your enemies and prevent them from attacking you. Privateer fleets would send delegations to several courts in Europe and pick the best pardon. That it could be used to pardon wrongful convictions was of no practical importance at the time and considering how little it is used for that purpose and how many wrongfully convicted people are behind bars it of no real importance today.
