Demonstrations challenging Iran's ruling theocracy appear increasingly smothered and the US president has signalled de-escalation between the two nations.
There were no new signs of bonfires or debris in the streets and the sound of gunfire has faded on recent mornings, witnesses told AP.
Perhaps that's not surprising - at least 2,637 people have been killed, the internet remains shut down, and Iran's justice minister has labelled anyone gathering since 8 January a "criminal", as the regime carries out waves of arrests after the unrest.
The chief of the Iranian judiciary has said the government must act quickly to punish the thousands who have already been detained.
Western nations, including the UK, have withdrawn military personnel or embassy staff from parts of the region, but it seems as though Trump has backed off from threatened military action.
He said earlier the "killing has stopped" and Iran had "no plan" for executions - criteria he had previously suggested would justify an attack.
But, as we've just been reporting, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said this evening: "The president and his team have communicated to the Iranian regime that if the killing continues, there will be grave consequences."
Beyond the rhetoric, though, Iranian airspace has also reopened after a temporary closure forced flights to reroute yesterday - in a further sign of an easing in tensions.
Trump's comments came after two days of intense diplomacy carried out by Arab nations fearful of regional instability.
Instead, the US announced new sanctions on Iranian officials accused of suppressing the protests, with the EU and G7 set to follow.
Iranian foreign minister Abbas Araghchi also appeared to tone down the rhetoric, telling Fox News: "Between war and diplomacy, diplomacy is a better way, although we don't have any positive experience from the United States. But still, diplomacy is much better than war."
The situation in the country was now stable, he told his Chinese counterpart.
