It creates a dynamic where white gentiles don't pass on their seed while Jews do. I guess as Christianity becomes increasingly brown that could be a good thing, but a text that encourages its followers to become submissive microcosms of the bride of Christ isn't exactly promoting a healthy value system. There are some interesting disparities in values between the Old Testament and New. There's no real proof, but it does kind of makes me wonder if Christianity wasn't made that way on purpose.
The first canon of the First Council of Nicaea addressed the problem of men castrating themselves, so apparently there were enough people doing it that it was causing an issue.
