I love old sitcoms. They're so comfy when they don't get political anyway. They're the perfect shows to watch just before you go to sleep. The canned laughter is weird when you think about it, but I'm used to it by now.
What are your favorites? Mine, in chronological order:
>The Honeymoonders
>The Andy Griffith Show
>The Dick van Dyke Show
>The Mary Tyler Moore Show
>Taxi
>Cheers
>Seinfeld

Married…with Children
Seinfeld
The Drew Carey Show
The Andy Griffith Show
Dennis the Menace

Haven't watched many other sitcoms.

Every time I try to watch this, I just get the urge to watch Whose Line Is It Anyway.

Heh, they complement each other.

I can't stand canned laughter anymore. Any time I heard it it just feels like I'm being covered in some corporate slimeball's attempts to psychologically manipulate me. If writing is funny it doesn't need canned laughter to manipulate me into laughing.

I have a soft spot in general for the kind of stuff TV Land used to air, although I was kind of hesitant to watch shows I wasn't already familiar with and ended up missing out on a lot. As a kid, my favorites were probably The Addams Family and The Munsters. My favorite now is Green Acres.

I watched the first season of Married… with Children a while ago and thought that seemed promising. I'd luck to follow up on that and The Mary Tyler Moor Show too, but I don't really watch much TV anymore.

I was lucky enough that my family got a bunch of Britbong comic books when I was growing up, and back then I felt like being familiar with the more hard-edged British character ruined the American one for me.

Maybe the canned laughter was the frens we met along the way.

Why are the color seasons of the Andy Griffith show so much worse?

The Honeymoonders is actually good, some faggots will cry it aged badly, but nope.

Wasn't part of it due to Don Knotts leaving? It's been a while since I've seen the show.

It holds up very well. It's not just gag after gag. The episodes are actual stories instead of just a series of gags, and the characters have a bit more dimension to them than most sitcoms of the time. Much better than I Love Lucy imo.

I don't know what this is, but for some reason the thumbnail looks familiar to me and I can't put my finger on why.

I first saw cheers a few years ago and it turned into my favourite sitcom. Very comfy and a joy to watch. The difference in 80s culture and today is incredible. Season 1 was the best because it had the least amount of Sam & Diane crap. Never liked the couple and it got annoying over the years. However in the end of the season 5 finale they finally had me. Their last scene is the most heartbreaking scene in sitcom history…. Season 6 onward was still good though they flanderized a lot of the characters. All in all great show for 11 seasons straight.

When I was a boy watching the Cheers intro, I used to think it was a real bar, and wanted to go there.

It was already kind of going in that direction (embed related) but yeah, it became a lot more cartoonish as it went on. I do like the Halloween prank episodes though, and I really enjoyed the last season where they pushed everything to it's limits.

I agree with all that. Though I feel that Sam was the character that was the most maybe only truly developed one that evolved over the period of the show. I enjoyed watching that and he became one of my favorite TV characters.

Also the end credits has the comfiest jingle ever. Like a sweet lullaby to go to bed to.
