Not really, as someone who has read several Stephen Kings novels and short stories, he fucking sucks.
The concepts are alright but mostly blatantly plagirazied from better writers, and the execution is terrible pretty much 99% of the time.
I think the only story I liked from him was Suffer The Little Children, it keeps you wondering and paranoid even after it ends.

Hollywood Horror Screenwriters in the 70s and 80s were writing way better shit than the overrated midwit, and that's why you get something as good as The Shining.
