For all its flaws, 4chan helped open up a whole new world for me. /fa/ helped me learn to stop dressing like a slob, /mu/ helped me continue broadening my taste in music, /pol/ made me to confront political ideas that weren't considered acceptable in the mainstream, /int/ was filled with fun internationally flavored memes and banter, and even /r9k/ was home to some good discussions at one point. I visited other boards too, but those were the most important ones for me. I'd become an avid ED reader in the girlvinyl era, but it wasn't until I developed a 4chan habit that I had a good way of communicating with fellow spergs and weirdos over the Internet.
