No.360909
>>360877The Japanese were literally seething about palword only because the palworld monsters were intentionally created to resemble the pokemon ones.
To this day a lot of the japanese and people in general think palworld is being sued for copying monster designs, which isn't what happened, it's being sued because nintendo patented aiming a ball to release or capture a monster in 3d space a few years ago. Nintendo was so pissed they just searched for whatever they could find to BTFO palworld.
Digimon is completely different in terms of art style and last I checked it's not even fully clear whether Pokemon predates Digimon or not, so pokemon bootlickers were not irrationally angry at it. (It also didn't come out of nowhere as a super popular flavor of the month game the way palworld did).
There's also a lot of irony in japs seething at palword for copying pokemon's art style considering pokemon gen 1 is pretty much all rehashed designs and concepts from Akira Toriyama.

Then I saw FMAB as a teen while it aired and once I got to the ending, seeing those characters happy and together finally, I sure came close to tears.
>ClannadI'm a sucker for these melodramatic SOLs so the tragic aspects of the show almost got to me.
>Planetarian movieI read the VN and it was depressing. Then seeing the movie at the end where
the junker met Yumemi in Robot Heaven really got to me. Saw it a few years ago as an adult. I don't know what it is but I get more emotional and teary eyed the older I get.

>>361103I was on Satokos side tbh in the new seasons but maybe that is because rika turned into a massive cunt reflecting her potential self as was shown in the OVAs>>361107Higurashi does a good job showcasing human issues in people with a facade of cuteness. I had a friend group growning up simular to keiichis, it fell apart and everyone drifted away.

No.361113
>>361110>friends fell apartDamn that's rough.
Planetarian is a Visual novel made by the makers of Clannad. Set in a post apocalyptic world where the protagonists meets a robot that worked in a Plaenterium before the apocalypse. The VN is only 4hrs long and I recommend it over the movie, which is a rushed version of the VN plus new scenes set after the events of the VN.
No.361119
>>361113Its always odd being the one boy in a female friend group. When I was younger the girls doted on me and when got older they only just sorta hung out cause they were all good friends with my older sister. Felt I had chances with at least two of them but I failed to make any move. Unlike in Higurashi where they all likely are so close they would always remember one another I doubt any of my friend groups remember me or the group. Just like on the internet I end up being the last lone autist. If anything Higurashi did a good job of capturing the spirit of being a perpetual outsider, exoterically as keiichi and esoterically as Rika.
>four hour VN>makers of ClannadDamn, sign me up, sadly as of late I just don't have time. I've always wanted to make a visual novel.

What is the big anime genre these days? It was isekai for a while, then it was romcoms, then I stopped keeping up with new anime.
No.365968
>>365964Isekai has morphed into the worst possible outcome: endless video game shit. Everything has to be a video-game fantasy land now, with video game rules for everything no matter how completely moronic and impractical. Everyone has to have a class, and stats, and level-ups, and "skills", etc. It makes for incredibly flaccid drama and I can't figure out why these people won't just make the games with the mechanics they're trying to depict in their half-assed stories. Some of them sound like they would be pretty fun to play.

>>365964action shonen is still the top dog in japan, Dragon Dall Daima, Dandadan, the Conan films, Demon Slayer, One Piece, Railgun season 3, Spy X Family, my hero academia have all been big performers in the last 5 years
isekai is number 2 and has an extreme volume of new titles coming out, but in terms of how many people are actually, watching action shonen is still winning
technically, there is a 0th place reserved for stuff like chibi maruko-chan, sazae-san, weekly conan episodes, curious george, crayon-shin chan, precure, and butt detective which seem to have a weird audience comprised of both people over 40 and kids under 10.
action shonen will sometimes spike past these when it gets really popular, but these are consistently the top watched works of animation in japan (and no, I don't know why Curious George, which is actually the same show that appeared on PBS Kids in America for a decade, is so popular)
