What is weird is how all these bloggers and journos are making out that Bo Dallas was fired. He put out a statement over a month ago saying he was waiting for his contract to expire and then retiring to his farm. He also stated that he and Liv Morgan were getting married and starting a real estate business.

Man I just rewatched the Samoa Joe vs. Necrobutcher match from Mid-South in 2005 and it still blows my mind. It isn't even, technically speaking, a deathmatch, but somehow it is more brutal and more hardcore than any match with convoluted spots. Just Samoa Joe beating a man half to death. It is physically painful to watch. That kinda feeling you get when you see something so intentionally destructive to a human body that you can feel your testicals pull up into your body as your body unconsciously reacts in sympathetic pain for the person being beat. Even typing this out I can hear in my head the sickening sound it made very time Joe smashes Necro's head into the concrete. Just a nasty dull wettish sound as he shoot tries to murder a man in front of an audience of people. The way the screams for blood slowly die down as the audience realizes what they are seeing is just icing on the cake.

For this week's installment of WDHMBT we will be watching the FMW Hardcore Bible Compilation

Serving as a highlight reel of some of the most excessive spots in FMW's history, the Hardcore Bible is a must watch for any deathmatch/hardcore match fan. While most of the matches themselves are not actually very good they were all chosen for particularly interesting spots. Sadly the collection does not include some of the more infamous matches, such as the Onita/Funk vs Sabu/Sheik no rope burning barb wire match, as the Hardcore Bible was produced specifically to market to the western audience and they didn't not want to present the promotion's biggest fuckups and mistakes that caused people to nearly die or ended careers.

As far as actual wrestling goes the Megumi Kudo matches are honestly some of the best that are in this compilation. I highly recommend that you watch her matches with Shark Tsuchiya and Combat Toyoda. Even now, 25 years after she retired, Megumi Kudo remains the undisputed queen of the deathmatch and no one else has even tried to match the sheer insanity that Kudome had.

For this week's installment of WDHMBT we will be watching the first instance in the long running series, CZW Zandig's Ultraviolent Tournament Of Death

August 31, 2002 saw the first annual CZW Tournament of Death. The event was billed as Zandig's Ultraviolent Tournament of Death due to a storyline of John Zandig losing ownership of CZW to Lobo, thus promoting his own deathmatch tournament. It was held in Dover, Delaware. Non-tournament matches included Green Phantom & Arsenal defeating The Hardcore Ninjaz and a tag scramble match which saw The Backseat Boyz defeat Derek Frasier & Sonjay Dutt, Jon Dahmer & Towel Boy and The New School, as well as a Three Way Dance in which Ruckus defeated Justice Pain and Nick Berk.

Adam Flash vs. The Messiah

>Tag Team Match

These are the publicly released paid attendance numbers released by Bushiroad and CyberFight for their Korakuen Hall shows since the year began and collected on cagematch. Events not listed did not have their attendance numbers listed (i.e. DDT's Ultimate Tag League and its 5 audience members in attendance).

After I have supper I will go over the events that occurred on the days of the massive spikes and speculate on what happened prior to massive dips that cause them to happen.

So what brought the audience back that swore they would never return? What lead to the gradual rise in attendance and eventual peak of 641 in attendance on Apr 18th?

What could make the notoriously stubborn Japanese change their mind and find it in themselves to once again trust NJPW?

What could it be?

 No.824

Well okay, if Billy Big Belts was what drew the audience back, then what occured on Apr 18th and Apr 19th to cause them to once again lose faith in the company? What could NJPW done to make the fans feel betrayed after they had finally started to return?

Well that would be when they began announcing the newest rounds of cancelations. Following the cancelations prior to Sakura Genesis the audience was still commited to their previously purchased tickets. After Sakura genesis NJPW canceled the majority of the Road To Dontaku shows. Without the road shows to build up to the Dontaku event and with an uncertain future on the horizon the weary and cynical local audience just gave up preordering tickets over not knowing if they would even be able to see the shows. Follow this up with CHADspreay announcing his injury, half the roster sick or injured, and the eventual vacation of the title and it is no wonder that NJPW is on this death spiral.

 No.829

The state of emergency in Tokyo also must be tough on fans, some probably hesitant to attend shows. That being said, NOAH and DDT are doing well. NJPW are paying the price for their retarded move of introducing that new belt, threw out all the goodwill they built up the past decade.

 No.830

>Those numbers
bingo hall tier

 No.831

>>830
The numbers are even more telling when you look at events outside of Korakuen. Outside of the spikes which are directly correlated to PPV blowoffs of their road series, the average NJPW road show draws comperable to what TJPW does in Itabashi Green Hall. Itabashi Green Hall is a civil service building housing the Itabashi Ward Welfare Office and their max capacity is 300 seats.
In the biggest non-arena venue in Japan NJPW is averaging what TJPW averages drawing in a literal welfare office.

>But that is a dishonest comparison, you can't just compare this without factoring in the PPV that have the highest draws of the year for NJPW

Okay then lets just add in Cyber Fight Festival from two days ago which drew 4800 people and that narative is completely wrecked by drawing nearly seven times as much as NJPW's highest drawing show of the year baring Dominion which has not had the numbers come in yet.

I haven't even finished digging into the DDT and NOAH numbers yet as I am still building my spread sheets and graphing them, but Mutoh's run has been extremely damaging to Bushiroad's profit margin. The only hope for them that I see is that Stardom appears to be drawing more consistently and with a higher average than NJPW.

For this week's instalmernt of WDHMBT we will be watching the debut PPV event of the Major Leaguers Wrestling promotion.

MLW (Not to be confused with the American deathmatch promotion Major League Wrestling) was founded by former Big Japan Wrestling staple Shadow WX (Satoru Shiga) in December 2019 following his six years in retirement due to battling thyroid cancer. Shadow WX began the promotion with the express intent of drawing his former partner and rival W*nger out of retirement. The promotion had two moderately successful PPV before it going on haitus in the confusion over the China Flu 2019 outbreak. While no official statement has been made regarding the future of the promotion it is to all intents dead.

The debut PPV occured on December 13th, 2019 in the Shin-Kiba 1st RING venue and featured a five match card.

Gahoole I know you hate women and PPP is gay, but I am a big fan of the real life angel Megumi Kudo. She started out looking like every veteran female wrestler today, but by the end she was a hardcore legend that would put any man claiming the same today to shame. This is a 22 minute career retrospective music video made by Bahu. If you guys could give it a watch I think you might be able to find at least one women whose matches you could honestly say you enjoy.

Fun fact, Kudome invented the Vertebreaker. It was originally called the Kudo Driver. She debuted the move on August 22nd, 1993 during a FMW/AJW tag match consisting of Megumi Kudo/Miwa Sato vs. Aja Kong/Kaoru Ito. Aja Kong would dominate most of the match including shooting knocking Kudome out early in the match with a hard right cross to the jaw. Later in the match Kudo would tag in to face Ito and use the Kudo Driver to a massive pop from the crowd.
