I love that hitler was both an artist and a writer. You can bring him up on just about any board.

How about a thread for really cool artistic models? Not generic warhammer space marines but models and 3D prints which involve real talent?

? Don't ever apologize for your work. I wouldn't. If someone doesn't like what you make that's too bad, they can make something of their own. Figures are good, remind me of the disposable assassin.

interesting thread and nice work there
also, are you working on your kitchen counter?

I was being sarcastic but yeah, I guess that didn't translate super well to text. Anyway though, the figures were a lot fun, I do plan to incorporate them more into future projects. I have no reason nor desire to stop with this medium any time in the future.
Nah, it's just the desk. My bedroom is half office room and half guest bedroom lol

Actually I have one serious criticism. Watermelon mint? Bluuaah!

lmao, yeah I don't buy the stuff, but I thought the same when I first read it. it's not bad though, very tame in flavour

Embarrassing how little taste you have.

Oh come now, fren. It's not that bad. Certainly enough time has passed where some humor can be derived from it.

So I joined us up for the /InfinityCup/. I hope you don't mind, but I snagged some of the works you guys produced and put them in as players for the game. You can find the roster here:

For those who didn't make the cut, don't take it personally. I did this late at night and in a rush, so I wasn't taking time to pick favorites. Though, as halfassed and rushed as it was, it was pretty fun to throw something together. With the way the board has been going I think it would be fun to be involved in more cups, so if you guys have any motto ideas, uniform edits, new logo, players, etc. Post them here so we have a nice little pool to choose from next time around.

I've yet to give the team a motto, I was thinking "put a happy little ball in that goal" but I think I need to ease it with the bob ross memes (his theme is ours and so is the goal horn)

>"feel free to change the logo"
>logo is complete shit, everyone else is professionally polished
>stimulates thought on why an /art/ board of all boards would want to have the shittiest logo
>its sloppy, hand drawn nature reminds the viewer of the piece's creator and grounds the piece as something crafted directly by a person rather than manufactured through photoshop
>essentially acts as the Comic Sans of logos, gaining its notoriety from its negatives and thus elevating it beyond its competitors; establishing itself as its own individual form
Why change it, it's already perfect

>Painter Giovanni Gasparo uploaded a picture of his canvas to his Facebook page on Tuesday. Titled Martirio di San Simonino da Trento (Simone Unverdorben), per omicidio rituale ebraico (The Martyrdom of St. Simon of Trento in accordance with Jewish ritual murder), the painting is very detailed, showing a group of hook-nosed Jews with peyot and yellow, uneven teeth strangling the child and draining his blood. Some of the Jews are also shown wearing kippot and shtreimels, with one in the center wearing a tallit over his head and shoulders. In addition, the child is shown with its arms outstretched, reminiscent of Jesus Christ on the cross as the Jews look on with apparent sadistic joy.

Very nice. His other art is great too. A few pictures with lots of hands like this, does that mean something in cuckstianity? I don't get it.

Looks like movements while praying the Rosary. You move your fingers along the beads and say a Hail Mary in each one, plus some extra prayers on the larger beads and reflecting about the mysteries of the Rosary.

Ty. I thought it was some sort of symbol but all of them have religious items in them so I think you are correct. This guy is really talented too, lots of his stuff wouldn't look put of place in a gallery of great classics. If you went in with no foreknowledge and bias and compared his work to stuff like the mona Lisa you'd think his was the great classic. Hope the ritual murder painting doesn't ruin his career.

I got a whole folder of these. Went through a bit of a manic MS Painting phase a while back. Maybe I'll keep drip feeding them, just so there's a bit of new content on this board every now and again.

What's the deal with everyone hating on Photorealism? I understand and even agree with the most obvious and common criticism: "if I wanted to look at a photo, I would go look at a photo". In that sense, photorealism is indeed not very interesting; it doesn't bring anything new to the table since it's just a 1:1 representation of reality. However, I have seen a lot of people go further than that:
>photorealism isn't art
>only hacks paint photorealism
>it doesn't take any skill
>photorealism is actually easy to paint, I could totally draw that if I wanted, but I'm busy doing REAL art
>real artists paint from memory and photorealists only know how to copy (a friend of mine said this one yesterday)
Like, I get you don't find photorealism interesting. Neither do I, unless the artist has done something truly special with the lighting, but there is a world of difference between merely stating that and going the extra mile to dunk on the movement. Every time a photorealist piece goes viral, or whenever the topic pops up for one reason or the other, you are guaranteed to find people parroting the points above. It's almost like it's become a mighty need to state out loud how much you dislike photorealism, and the funny part is that the thing these people have all in common is that they all studied art in college.

Why the needless hate for photorealism? Is it that these people have been too brainwashed by academia, is it that they are jealous of photorealist artists, or is it more like a secret code they have to signal they too are in "the club"?

I cant understand why people would shit on photorealism when there's photography. I think the problem would be the lack of artist touch in the piece? You're basically using your photographic skills to copy something down and I guess people can view that as a waste or meaningless as to who made the piece. That's the worst I can think of. Though I have seen artists do similar pieces to realism and end up having different results in the end. They can focus on contrast or the lighting, or even the specific choices of brush strokes or hatching/cross-hatching, etc

Personally I never found photorealism that interesting, kinda for the lack of creativity and the sharp realism. Once you've seen one it feels like you can just brush through a photo book and get the idea from there. I guess artists find it as a personal way of capturing a moment or scene and for that I can understand it's meaning. But, photorealism, to me, is more of a study of the specific artist's style. Something that's best done at the gallery or museum so you can take a better look and read the choices they made.

As for your friend and his claims:
>photorealism isn't art
<Then neither is photography and anything else that is "too real looking"
>only hacks paint photorealism
<implying that all the hack artists paint/draw in photorealism. that's cute.
>it doesn't take any skill
<That's just silly. To draw that realistically, even copying, takes skill. It takes knowledge of dimension, depth, lighting, scale, etc…
>photorealism is actually easy to paint, I could totally draw that if I wanted, but I'm busy doing REAL art
<this has to be from someone who never even drawn a stick figure
>real artists paint from memory and photorealists only know how to copy (a friend of mine said this one yesterday)
<disown your friend.

>implying that all the hack artists paint/draw in photorealism. that's cute
All A is B doesn't imply all B is A
