Wtf was this drawn by Matt Groening? It looks like he traced over jpgs he got off google. the man's been so busy on lolita airlines and letting koreans do his work, he forgot how to draw his own cartoon characters.

Welcome to /art/!

Hello and welcome to /art/, tvch's board for anons to post their thoughts, critiques, personal work, DIY Q&A, news, recommendations, or whatever else that you'd imagine concerns a place like /art/.

- Standard board rules apply, no cp, spamming, & spoil lewds.
- Please keep all threads on topic, if you're posting any personal work keep it to one thread.
- You're welcome to post links to personal art accounts, but keep your shilling at an absolute minimum

To keep this board as open and friendly as possible I would like to confirm that /art/ can go beyond the usual painting/ drawing/ sculpting scope people would generally assume it's for. For this board any sort of sfw creative endeavor is welcomed, whether it would be your cosplay attempts, car painting, photoshops, DIY projects, etc. As long as there's some form of artistic creativity involved you shouldn't fear if it would be acceptable or not. So have fun out there /art/ists! :)

looking for a summary on how does art and illustration are modelled against the data towards maybe the possibility of 600k traffic/sales per content, or at least annually, maybe even per unit objects drawn,

like against niches and trends, and "topping" the quota, or actually numbering the quota to begin with.
>additionally
>modelling the nook and crannies in exact details
>towards the projected target
>like putting visuals against numbers and market state and such

confused looking anime girls with interrogation‘marks on their heads

Is it bad to use stabilizers when drawing on a tablet? I always feel like I'm cheating when I use them and I worry that if I get used to using them, I'll start relying on them and lose the ability to draw with a steady hand without them.

JEWS BTFO

>Painter Giovanni Gasparo uploaded a picture of his canvas to his Facebook page on Tuesday. Titled Martirio di San Simonino da Trento (Simone Unverdorben), per omicidio rituale ebraico (The Martyrdom of St. Simon of Trento in accordance with Jewish ritual murder), the painting is very detailed, showing a group of hook-nosed Jews with peyot and yellow, uneven teeth strangling the child and draining his blood. Some of the Jews are also shown wearing kippot and shtreimels, with one in the center wearing a tallit over his head and shoulders. In addition, the child is shown with its arms outstretched, reminiscent of Jesus Christ on the cross as the Jews look on with apparent sadistic joy.

Photography General #001

We live in a time where nearly every child owns a cellphone, and where every cellphone houses a camera of considerable quality. Never has it been easier to take pictures than it is now. From grandmothers, to high school memequeens, and sub-80-IQ urban youths, everybody is snapping shots of themselves and their surroundings. Even NEETS.

Imageboards like Wizardchan and others often have their own photography generals, where the userbase of isolated and alienated nobodies use their tremendous amount of free time to document reality in artistic and aesthetically pleasing ways through the medium of the artificial eye.

Hopefully this thread will encourage our own inhabitants to stretch their artistic muscles and learn to think creatively visually. The picture in this post is the first photo ever taken. Captured by the Frenchman Joseph Nicéphore Niépce in 1826 at his estate in Burgandy, this blurry vision would change the world. It gave human beings the ability to truly see the world, as another human being sees it, not as an abstraction, or a representation, but as a real documentation of life from another man's eyes.

So Anon, what does life look like from your eyes?

Frank Frazetta

Putting his art into words seems to lose something of its magic. Yet I do wonder what makes it so iconic. It is of course well composed, well made, and beautiful to look at, but there must be something more. Why do you think his work still resonates?

3D Printing: Art or Fart?

>"Oh wow, amazing grass and ground texture, how did you do that?"
<"Well I painted, added glue and applied dirt and grass separately using an assortment of methods
>"And that water looks amazingly real too, how did you pull that off?"
<"Layers of colored resin that I dyed my self, after setting up some materials to look like a river bed"
>"That castle is pretty neat, how did you create that?"
<"Oh it's 3D printed"
>Mild feeling of disappointment

Would you consider 3D printing to be a respectable form of art or craftsmen ship? Personally I've always found it to be a cheap short cut in actually creating something. There could have been a multitude of other ways he could have constructed that castle, but 3D printing feels the careless and laziest way to go about it. The disappointment I feel is the same as if someone just printed out their painting on an inkjet printer.

How does anon feel about it? Can it work as it's own medium or is it just the lazy man's modeling clay?

Alex Ross

What's /art/'s thoughts on Alex Ross? Personally, he's one of the few comic book artists who still keep me loosely interested in the comicbook genre. I remember reading Kingdom Come solely for the artwork and being blown away by the constant level of detail and quality in each panel. From what I've been told he hand paints all his panels himself.

I've recently started drawing digitally after only sketching with pencil and paper for years. Among other many other things, I've tried drawing variations of the same head (from imagination, I'm not using a reference like I probably should) with slight variations every couple of weeks to track my progress. The first five or six of these were drawn in Photoshop Elements and the rest in Clip Studio Paint. Admittedly I got sloppy with the construction and lining of the heads because I was in a rush to get to the coloring stage, since this is my first time seriously working with colors, and made many mistakes which I knew not to make. Aside from using a reference and taking construction and line work more seriously like I mentioned earlier, what else should I do to improve?

The /art/ Class General

Episode 3 - Screen Shot Drawing
Basically for this one just screen shot some sort of video or image and draw from that. Is it a mind's eye drawing? A test to interrupt your understanding of one media platform and transferring it into your own? Shit, I dunno, but any reason is a good reason to draw. So let's see what you got!

Gonna just go ahead and make this thing a general thread so I'm not flooding the whole board with my own content lmao ;)

how

how can such a shit artist be so popular and loved?
R: 1 / I: 0
Recently I came across this video of some women performing a "comedy" music routine; in which they would portray extremely out of touch old crones for lack of a better label and play either some original or cover of a more famous song. The thing is their comedy is not that funny and their songs are not much to listen too just as audio. Nearly all their sets, their set up is as long as the song they perform. It's really the entire performance that creates their true value, the songs are more of a reasoning to their presence, rather than the main draw, while their choice of songs (or cover songs) either clash with their personalities or support them, both of which draws some sort of comedic value.

Wikipedia defines Performance art as: "… an artwork or art exhibition created through actions executed by the artist or other participants. It may be witnessed live or through documentation, spontaneously developed or written, and is traditionally presented to a public in a fine art context in an interdisciplinary mode"

I find the Kransky Sisters not to be very funny (maybe a little funny), but more so overwhelmingly interesting. They harbor characteristics vaguely familiar with individuals, both real and fictional. They emit the reminisce of a secluded, pre-Victorian subculture that would have never been acknowledged if weren't for their passion to entertain. I honestly can't tell of the eldest is doing this as some 4D larp or this is legit who she is.

What would /art/ consider as "performance art"?

Rock Tumbling

Just finished batch 1 through the various steps of grit and polish.
Turned out to be quite a disaster.
I intentionally set out to tumble shitty rocks to see what would happen, and they ended up shitting up some nicer ones that I lumped in through the grit transfers.

My unit is a dual container tumbler which means there are I can run two batches at once. However, due to some rocks becoming too small and hence discarded, merging the batches allows the opportunity to begin another one. So some of the dark black creek rocks mixed with what I assume is some kind of quartz. Some of the quartz has black specs on it because the black rocks rubbed off onto them.
Guides suggest to match up hardness, but I'm not a geologist. It's basically a lesson similar to laundry or society.

Anyway, I've got a load of jaspers going which came with the tumbler, so those should turn out nice and shiny. I also broke up a rock stolen off a state park beach and tossed it in a batch.

Also have a hobby drill press now and poked some holes into some. We'll see what happens.
One thing you won't notice from the photos is the touch. They're remarkably smooth, almost smoother than the granite slab countertop I photoed them on, also probably a bad idea for photographing the rocks. Oh well.
It's a pretty fun passive hobby. Once a week you play in some water and see rocks develop.

I thought it was kind of funny. There's one rock in there that looks basically like any old creek rock like nothing happened to it. However it's incredibly smooth.
Anyway… there's my post.

First of all you may wonder why I draw this? well I just have 2 reasons to make fanart of this series: First I love it, I really love cartoons still show a slice of life with crude sense of humor on them, and second, I have some kind of resemblance with the pic feeling, and Im sure some of you too, if you are a fan of Rick and Morty you may notice Rick is a person that can handle everything except himself, he is a brilliant person but way too lonely that unplug from reality with science and alcohol to avoid the fact he is a sad person, and sometimes really dont see the point of keep living, and if you get what Im saying you will see lots of times its impossible to see life without the gray filter on your eyes.
Also you may notice Rick try to commit suicide some times along the series but for some reason he never get it, and not because of him, just because life or destiny avoid death from him, those persons who seen death close before and still breath will know what Im talking about. but why Rick is so miserable why an extremely smart person like him battles with the idea of end with his life sometimes well easy because his smartness mind, he really cant see lifes point because he already lived alot, he saw alot and he dosent have someone next to him to support his madness and feel how is it to feel real life, according to his creator Justin Roiland the closest character could be compared with Rick could be Dr. Gregory House, extremely smart but a miserable person, both are persons who are great characters because both are clever guys, pervs, genius on what they do, manipulative, careless about the rest of the people, bith are nihilists to the core, and both fail in love, but while Dr. House avoid his loneliness with drugs, Rick does with alcohol, both characters dont see why life is so important, and the the straw that broke the camel's back their messy lifes with love, both cant get a couple and if they do it dosent endure cuz its barley what they want in their lifes.
Also if you are a fan of Rick and Morty you will see Rick tries to commit suicide when he fails in love, and this is why I feel some kind of familiar feeling with this pic, people may think know you but the true is you can mask how you truly feel but inside your mind screams sometimes "whats the fucking point of all of this?" you know Albert Einstein used to say: "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results" and I can tell is fucking true, after lots of tries is madness to keep trying to achieve what you most wish?
And when you realize you keep failing your mind tells you "Isnt it enough?" and yeah maybe is right I mean people would tell you life can be nice without that dream on you but really inside you, you know its not true, because once the idea is planted in your mind nothing will stop it, even when people, family and friends dont believe in your dream after lots of years, pain and tries you start to wonder if its like try to catch a ghost or achieve a mirage, and you only wish to escape, to take away that ball and chain, but you just cant because the fuel of your life, so basically that's the feeling of all of this, Even when a dream is not as hard at it seams but for some reason life deny it systematically and you see other persons get it so easy without any kind of cost or dicipline to get it and you only wonder "do they really deserve it?" and the only thing you can do is wonder how it taste that flavor you that flavor that you've spent all your life dreaming of knowing what it tastes like.
like one of those fucking dreams you know its a dream but you cant wake up, your mind begs for help but your body dont answer, and feel the heavy charge over you and none around really want to help you.

Infinity Cup poll

Hey guys, /icup/ here with a question on how we're going to handle the next iteration of the Infinity Cup ( https://anon.cafe/icup/ )

We're trying to poll whether certain boards are interested in playing in the cup, or if there's some specific team that you'd like to see play. If you want to, please answer or add your own answer to the poll in https://poal.me/6x3j1u

is there a technique or advanced mathemathics to draw in this manner but for any other objects? from straight lines to curved wheels?
given the object's and view's properties, define the line's curvature, angles and length?

trying to start game development projects to sell while i dont want to overshoot it but at the same time i dont want to do low return passion projects either… so i began with top ten games as a target like minecraft, gta, super mario, tetris.. all of which are top seller all time until and with the exception of gta, are quite simple, supposedly.

or maybe not.

how should i begin my things? choosing something that s in market demand but not too ambitious but also not too passionate/indie of sorts?

I'm not sure if this is the right board to post about this, but I thought it'd be nice to have a thread about DIY automotive painting techniques.
Pic related isn't my vehicle, just one that was painted with the technique I'm about to describe, by the guy I learned this from.
Say you have an old vehicle you want to bring back to life, and you want a type of paint that will look good and be resistant without needing an expert executing the job. Alkyd enamel comes to your help. It was the typical automotive paint until acrylic enamel became popular. It's desirable because it can last a long time and can produce professional results with ease.
A good mix is rustoleum, mineral spirits, penetrol/flood and enamel hardener, which is optional but makes the paint very strong and chip resistant.
You can get the first three in home improvement stores such as Lowe's and the enamel hardener can be found in Tractor Supply (I love them for gym stuff too, you can get rubber pads for much cheaper than in other places) or other sites online.
When doing alkyd painting, it's desirable to use a high volume low pressure gun. They can be bought for cheap at places like Harbor Freight and even the cheapest ones give good results. You want many light to medium coats as opposed to a heavy one and you want the paint to stay wet as long as possible, this way it flows for a smooth glossy finish. Always paint in the lowest temperatures you can and not under direct sun.

DIY Restoration Thread

Recently a friend's gardening handle broke, so I took it upon myself to make a new one. Came out pretty easily, just put a piece of a dowel on the lathe and carved down a handle. Drilled a hole in at the top for the shovel part to fit in and filled the rest up with wood glue. Feeling pretty proud of it so I figured I might share.

So what have you been fixing up?

Dutch museum says van Gogh painting stolen in overnight raid

>A painting by Dutch master Vincent van Gogh was stolen in an overnight smash-and-grab raid on a museum that was closed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, police and the museum said Monday.
>The value of the work, which was on loan from the Groninger Museum in the northern Dutch city of Groningen, was not immediately known. Van Gogh's paintings, when they rarely come up for sale, fetch millions at auction.

The world is ending, might as well get a nice painting to tie the room together before I die.

hello, when i animate walk cycles primary or anything that uses bipedal or arm it always end up limping and unbalanced or sliding…

what usually causes this and how do i avoid it? i ve considered just simulating it and then tracing it and even just get one feet right and the other feet just being a copy of the other but in different timing

is that okay? the second way feels very unnatural obviously and i havent even tried it out myself but then i dont know how to make straight ahead walking/cycles animation that is "correct/balanced enough" from the get go

Art Restoration Kino

>Henry Ranger was a New York painter known for his seascapes and marine scenes. He was a promnent Tonalist and founder of the Old Lyme Art Colony. This painting of the ocean with some meandering sailboats was clearly a tonal painting when it arrived, only the wrong tone. with years of surface grime and a heavily discolored varnish the painting had taken on a very yellow cast. As the varnish was removed a few interesting discoveries were made that complicated the conservation

The /art/ Class Ep1 - Our News Team

ALRIGHT, IT'S HAPPENING, SOMETHING IS FINALLY HAPPENING

So starting next week I want you all to gather your pencils, paper and other artistry utensils and come join me on a wonderful journey of drawing! What's going to be expected is that I'll post a weekly subject for us to draw about from the list posted and we all post our results within each thread.

I feel like this is going to be in beta until I get a better rhythm of things so bare with me if changes are suddenly made. I'll do my best to post a weekly video for you guys to watch to add some interest. But you're only expected to put in as much effort as you feel. So if you wanna sketch something out on the back of a receipt or use Oekaki that'll be perfectly fine.

This week's art project is: Your News Team
I think this will be a fun intro to start off on. So take some time and think of your ideal news team and what they would look like. Don't feel pressured to follow the lines exactly, if you want a team of only hot latina weather women or lizard people or even oblong shapes that seem to be wearing suits, that's entirely up to you. But you have the whole week to think & sketch up something fun and post what you got.

So for this one, just draw whatever house hold items you commonly use or have around your house. Try and do a couple of varying shapes and see what you feel comfortable with.

And I'll try to make shorter videos :^)

13 Women Accuse Iranian Artist Aydin Aghdashloo of Sexual Misconduct

>Thirteen women, in interviews with The New York Times, accused the artist, Aydin Aghdashloo, of sexual misconduct over a 30-year span. Most are former students, and some are journalists who have reported on art and culture.

Maybe it was just a performance piece
