Do you understand Japanese?

 No.3468

Only about a fifth of that song, but the lyrics in Japanese music tend to be less important than the sound of the vocals, they're usually just a bunch of cliches, including that song.
Music is harder to mentally translate but Japanese music is so cliched (some of the lyrics are along the lines of "What is this place? Is it Heaven or Hell?) so it balances out
I just checked an english translation on a wiki out of curiosity and it even gets some stuff clearly wrong: it translated HYAKUSEN as "A hundred…no a thousand" when it should simply be a hundred thousand.

Hey nerds, I've recently found out about K.flay and I dig her sound. The only thing I'm missing is a single song from her one album. Is there any chance that any of you can point me in the direction of finding track 11? The usual places I go to are of zero help.

I looked, and couldn't find it. Maybe send a letter to K.Flay or her agent, tell them you're a superfan and would like to buy the CD. You never know.

That's certainly an option. It's funny, I don't typically like hip hop or rap or urban shit, but there's something about her music. It's like with Oliver Tree, the guy makes such simple stuff but it has such a vibe to it.

I don't know who this is, and I also can't find an album with that title on Soulseek.

What was that trend song they were all dancing to in the summer that sounded like Kirby saying "Haaaiii!" in the beginning, and then had a chorus of high-pitched voices saying something in Japanese?

the japanese indie scene does a lot of experimentation and is pretty talented
infamously some nigger sampled (stole) a touhou bossa nova (brasil jazz) cover, just added a little hop hop beat and it became famous among zoomers

What are some bands that are musically similar to Lost Horizon? I haven't been able to find anyone else like them, and it's upsetting that they only put out two albums before they disbanded. Daniel Heiman recently did an album with some Danish guys and while the vocals are there, it's not what I was expecting and I realized that it needs those high-flying drums and guitars along with (for lack of a better term) the uplifting/godlike lyrics it comes with. They're undoubtedly my favorite band and I would love to find more like them.

I'm bumping this thread just to ask if I'm the only one who doesn't think Iron Maiden is all they're cracked up to be.

>So what does /ost/ think killed (or at the very least put on life support) metal and rock music at large?
Rap being promoted over rock in mainstream, metal musicians becoming a bunch of autistic gear nerds and losing the bad-boy aura of danger that rock used to have, worse songwriting and shittier production compared to the old days, etc. Basically all the stuff Circle of Tone is always going on about. I also think it's hard to be original these days because it seems like everything's already been done.

 No.3402

These days I rarely listen to metal unless it's one of the bands I've really loved for a long time, and even then, those are exceptions, or when I go to a concert.
The vast majority of metal just bores me now, especially if it's all-guitar stuff made for normalfag headbangers. For some reason I can still tolerate black metal and folk, maybe because of the vocals and the use of alternative instruments.
For almost five years now I've preferred post-punk and its various offshoots, especially goth, coldwave and deathrock.
I'm not that into vocals anymore either; I almost always prefer listening to classical music or synthwave/darkwave instead of subjecting myself to shitty lyrics or bad vocalists. I've been to enough concerts to know just how awful some famous singers really sound outside the studio - or simply once they start aging.

>>3366
I never liked Iron Maiden; in fact, they, along with Aerosmith, always repulsed me, especially because of their fanboys.
I remember that back when I still cared about metal, during the golden age of online piracy, I could always find good bands from all over the world and tried to get my headbanger friends to listen to them. But they were only interested in mainstream metal or gay melodic metal.
And they still had the nerve to get upset when I occasionally preferred going to raves with the popular kids instead of spending yet another weekend drunk with them, listening to the Big Four crap for the umpteenth time.
