All those curriculum books I read in school are long forgotten so they don't count.

Is this a good version of the Ramayana to read if I only care about the story and not Hinduism or Indian philosophy?

You fucking hermaphrodites. The reason I asked that is because that particular translation of the Ramayana is based on the Tamil version of the story instead of the original Sanskrit version and the way it frames certain characters and concepts is a little bit different. I only made this thread because I was wondering if that translation still faithfully tells the basic Ramayana story even if the particulars of certain ideas aren't the same as in the original Sanskrit version. It doesn't matter anyway because I was able to find another translation that is based on the Sanskrit and I plan to compare and contrast it with the Tamil version. But that's going to have to wait because I have to finish the Mahabharata first which is going to take quite awhile.

 No.333

The hindunuffin philosophy is actually quite based. It's a shame that modern day Indians are 90% former Shudras who constantly prove the reason there was a caste system in the first place.

 No.335

>>332
well you should have explained that then dude

 No.458

Read any version of Ramayana that's dumped down for kids. There are lots of them in India ranging from animated stories to comics to books. Many of them entirely skip the really darker controversial parts of the story though.

Are you talking about Rajagopalachari's translation? It's faithful to the sanskrit work, he's a sanskrit scholar himself. Don't jump to assumptions because he's Tamil.

Tvch's il/lit/erate club is now accepting nominations for themes for book club. There will also be a vote for the duration of each theme. I am thinking 3 weeks is enough time to get it done but it's up for debate.
Some rules are:
1.If you provide a nomination you must provide a file so we can read it or an audiobook so we can listen
2. You gotta explain why it fits the theme
3. You cannot nominate a book that's been chosen already
4. End of the week the books will go through a randomizer
5. It is highly encouraged you post your thoughts after it has been read to generate discussion

I thought of some themes but if you have more post them ITT.
1. Greeks
2. Business or finance book
3. Collection of Short Stories
4. A book off a this posted graph (will provide)
5. Tradgedy
6. Favourite novel from childhood

Ok one final question, I'll need 12 nominations for the longer version

3. Authors First
4. Authors last
5. Nat. Philo
6. Comm. Philo
7. Pseudopigraphic I don't know what this means
8. Postmodern
9. Autobio
10. Book from Graph
11. Theory Fiction
12. Terrible vanity projects

I tried to select the ones that would require the most pages for reading but I'll swap out as needed

Some ecchis are Tenjho Tenge (my favourite as a teen but it has a BM/AF relationship but he's kind of cool. They show bush

Maken-Ki but it gets cucky as it goes on

Blade Play is pretty top tier

Gantz shows bush

Infection gets good after a few volumes but it has zombie and bugs

Okusan has the rare nipple but it's wholesome and very enjoyable but heavy women

Triage X and Highschool of the Dead have a wonderful artist

Is Blade Play the one where the MC rapes a female knight at the beginning because he mistakenly thinks her comments about a magic wand are actually about his cock?

 No.411

My biggest gripe with these arcs is that it's not even about Guts anymore. The magic plot berserker armor turns on and Mary Sue Shierke piggybacks on Guts' mind and the whole fight scene ends up being almost more about Schierke's feelings than Guts' actions. And of course the berserker armor has to damage the fuck out of Guts so he can be incapacitated til the next big boss fight so that in the period between big boss fights he's reduced to a minor side character. It seems like ever since Schierke and the berserker armor showed up, the edgy, violent story I signed up for has deteriorated into a comedy about a generic DnD party. It's like what the field trip did to Watamote.

He rapes her because she wants him to hit her which translates into fuck but she doesn't want that in the end but really does

 No.414

>>411
Its too bad because I know Guts is going to get fixed and have a clean bill of health before the final showdown. And Schierke is gonna be the one to do it to him, and it will remove all tension.
Golden Age is the best arc if you don't know what you are getting into, I remember reading the first chapter as an early teen and thinking I downloaded the wrong chapter and starting when Golden Age starts and having things slowly turn monstrous was very cool
